The charming village of Lippiano belongs to the municipality of Monte Santa Maria Tiberina, in the province of Perugia in Umbria, Italy.
The Benchmark of the village is its majestic castle that was built back in 1195. The Marquis of Monte Santa Maria Tiberina occupied it in 1336. Today, the recently renovated castle is open to the public during certain days. It is a vast and totally intact castle with a look-out tower visible from a distance. The castle spreads over five floors.
Go for a beautiful long walk around the valley via Lippiano where you’ll take in wonderful scenes through olive groves and ample vineyards, a walk in the past, uninterrupted by artificial noises and cars. Views over the valleys are quite stunning as you can spot several other hill towns in the distance, inviting you to visit them such as Monterchi, Citerna and Anghiari to the north and Monte Santa Maria Tiberina to the southeast. The area is also very popular with road cyclists and mountain bikers.
