REVIEW SCORE

Situated on the top of a small hill, 155metres above sea level and overlooking the magnificent scenery which surrounds the city of Volterra, the villa was built in the nearby town of Fabbrica by one of the noble families of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. Volterra is surrounded by olive groves and vineyards and has not lost the authentic aura typical of the whole of Tuscany. The village developed around the original tower and stronghold and one of the villas in the area is Villa Il Borgo.

It dates back to the 18 hundreds and is in the elegant Liberty style of the period. It was restricted many years ago, maintaining the original architectural characteristics. Furnished with extremely good taste with antique period furniture and ornaments, the villa has a particular elegance, enriched by precious decorations, paintings, and the original vaulted ceilings.

The villa s 350 square meters are disposed on two floors. On the ground floor is an extremely well-equipped kitchen with a small larder, a dining room with an elegant wood fireplace in lava stone, divans and armchairs, and Sat. TV. There is also another large salon with frescoed ceilings, divans, and armchairs, a dining room with a large, crystal dining table and original bookcases, a double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. By means of a stone staircase, we arrive on the top floor where a corridor leads to two double bedrooms (one of which has a canopied bed), and continuing along

another corridor we reach another two bedrooms. In three bedrooms another single bed can be added-There are two bathrooms and one has a comfortable bath. Coming back down to the ground floor, next to the kitchen and living room, we pass through two arched doorways and enter the garden, which has a stone floor and was originally the cloister. A large lodge has a dining table and chairs for “al fresco” dining, and divans under a pergola with a hundred-year-old wisteria.
From here you can admire the vineyards and olive groves as far as the city of Volterra. By means of another stone staircase, we go down to the garden, protected by an ancient wall for privacy, to the panoramic swimming pool (12x4 meters by 1.40 deep). It has a hydromassage area, divans, and umbrellas. The shops of Fabbrica are within walking distance.

About the Location

Italy, Tuscany, Pisa

Pisa is located on the western coast of Italy, just 20 minutes from the Ligurian Sea, and is a transportation hub to explore Florence, Livorno, and La Spezia. Though one of the smaller cities in the region of Tuscany, it has historically been one of the most important and influential ones. From the 11th century and onwards Pisa rose to prominence and became one of the major maritime republics of Italy. The city saw great development at the time and investment was poured into the city to improve its infrastructure and build its world-famous monuments present to the day.

Pisa displays a fantastic array of beautiful historical buildings and it boasts over 20 historical churches. Furthermore, Pisa has some world-class museums and beautiful scenery along the banks of the River Arno. Its famous landmark, The Leaning Tower, was an architectural project that went terribly wrong, yet it rose the city to glorious fame!

Education is another important factor that has fueled the local economy since the 1400s, with students from across Italy and beyond studying in its elite university. This endows the center of town with a fresh vibrant cafe and bar scene that exists in harmony with well-maintained Romanesque buildings, Gothic churches, and Renaissance piazzas.

Tuscany is a place like nowhere else in the world; this is the reason why this region is at the tops bucket lists all over the globe. Amazing landscapes, beautiful hilltop towns and the fantastic capital city of Florence charm everyone who decides to visit it. It is a majestic region with almost half of the artistic heritage of Italy and fantastic landscapes. Due to its mild weather, you could visit Tuscany all year round. It’s a region with exceptional art towns and hilltop villages and with a heritage of a glorious past with unspoiled nature, spectacular sea coast, and beautiful islands. Here you will taste some of the best wine varieties and then you can relax to one of its thermal spas.

The birthplace of the Roman Empire and Renaissance, Italy, showcases many of the world’s greatest artworks, architectural buildings and over the top gastronomical proposals. This is the country where the word “style” expresses the whole nation. Italy has more Unesco World Heritage cultural sites than any other country; among them are Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Primavera, Michelangelo’s David and Sistine Chapel and da Vinci’s The Last Supper.
