Loutra is a medieval village located approximately 8km from the city of Rethymno and 2km from the beach. Ottomans and Asia Minor immigrants inhabited Loutra in the past. Characteristic of this settlement is the beautiful alleys with the stone houses and the flower-adorned balconies. Do not skip a visit to the fountain with the Turkish inscription. A bit outside of Loutra there is a small alley that leads to the picturesque chapel of Agios Panteleimonas with a monument for the 10 executions of its inhabitants by the Germans. Of particular interest is the fair of Agia Fotini of Samaritis that is during Lent. In Loutra you can visit the old oil mill and the house of hero Papa-Manoli Kallergi. In close proximity to the village, you will find crystalline beaches and bigger settlements with restaurants and all amenities.
