REVIEW SCORE

Casa La Bastia Umbria is a luxury villa rental with 4 bedrooms and a private pool. Take the original and authentic brickwork and exposed beams, arches, and floors of rough travertine and combine that with handmade furniture made by the local craftsmen. Then add inventive conveniences such as heated bathroom floors, Satellite TV, DVD, B&O link Stereo System, and Wireless Internet and on top of that the dobbelt glass doors in all the rooms on the ground floor and the big windows in all the rooms on the first floor, all overlooking the valley and the mountains – and you will have something very special and unique.

Casa La Bastia Umbria sits on a mountainside, has two stories joined by an outside staircase, and is app. 550 m2. Its tall stone façades rise to a spectacular view of the valley of Magione and are surrounded by mountains and forest reservations as long as the eye can see. The rebuilding of Casa La Bastia started in 1997 and was completed in 2001. Local craftsmen have complied with strict regulations to preserve the original and authentic character, using stones from the field and old oak beams including the massive staircase to the first floor. Next to the two houses the pool and the pool house are located on a shelf on their own at a slightly higher level, with stairs from the terrace, again with an unspoiled view over the mountains and the valley. The pool house has a bathroom, shower room, changing room, and a covered relaxing and grill area.

About the Location

Italy, Umbria, Perugia

Perugia is a beautiful medieval city in Umbria, rich in history and art, and its surroundings include evident elements of the Etruscan and the Roman civilizations. The modern part of town is dominated by the presence of its prestigious university which creates a pleasant buzz. There are interesting attractions and a vibrant day scene as well as nightlife with great restaurants and nightspots that make it a very lively place. The historical center displays labyrinth alleys, beautiful arched stairways, and piazzas framed by magnificent palazzi. Its location is offered for daily excursions to places such as Assisi, Spello, and Gubbio. Perugia is just a couple of hours drive north of Rome.

Important sights in the city include the Etrurian Well that is not only a historical site, but is today still the main water source in the city. Besides the well, there are many Etrurian tombs. The 'artistic' center of Perugia revolves around Piazza IV Novembre, where still stands part of the walls that once belonged to the Etruscan city and were accessed using the ancient gates such as the Porta della Mandorla, Porta Marzia and Porta Trasimeno. Other sights of religious importance are the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, Basilica of San Domenico and San Pietro church.

Umbria is a famous region of Central Italy crossed by the beautiful River Tiber. Well known for its old cathedral churches and beautiful villages. It is a less traveled region in Central Italy with many advantages over Tuscany. It is the smallest region in Italy and it doesn’t have a coastline or border with another country. It is an ideal country for those who want to experience Italian art, history, culture and cuisine.

The birthplace of the Roman Empire and Renaissance, Italy, showcases many of the world’s greatest artworks, architectural buildings and over the top gastronomical proposals. This is the country where the word “style” expresses the whole nation. Italy has more Unesco World Heritage cultural sites than any other country; among them are Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Primavera, Michelangelo’s David and Sistine Chapel and da Vinci’s The Last Supper.
