REVIEW SCORE

Villa Tramonto sul Lago Umbria is a luxury villa rental with 29 bedrooms and a private pool It is not so far from the villa Tramonto sul Lago that nymph Agilla fell in love with Prince Trasimeno, son of the Etruscan king Tirreno. Legend has it that to attract him to himself the beautiful girl began to sing and he went by boat to the center of the lake, near the Polvese island. Here the two met, they embraced for the first time and, shortly after, they got married. The day after the wedding, however, Trasimeno came out to take a bath in the lake but the waters did not resurface anymore. Agilla, in vain, looked for him all her life. Every time the rustling of the wind moves the leaves of the trees around Villa Tramonto sul Lago, the locals say that the nymph is crying and desperate. And when a wave moves a boat, enough to make it almost overturn, it is said that it is always she who is checking to see if by chance her prince is hiding from you.

Overlooking the places of legend, with a breathtaking lake view, the villa, or rather the Sunset on the Lake relais sits on top of a gentle hill that welcomes guests by welcoming them with an embrace that smells of well-being and harmony. To put everyone at ease in this place of wonders we think then the very nice owners, Roberto and his twin brother who, after having founded and managed for more than twenty years a company for the construction of components in composite material for the aeronautics industry born from an intuition of their beloved father and arrived to realize parts for the Shuttle, the Tornado fighters and the ultra-fast catamaran of the World Cup of the small Cup of America; they decided to return to what was their beloved birthplace and childhood for them.

Not far from the town of Passignano sul Trasimeno, the historic residence Villa Tramonto sul Lago was born in the early 1990s, from the skillful restoration carried out by the Salvetti family of what was an ancient village dating back to the mid-1600s belonged to the Marquis Ranieri di Sorbello. Until not long ago the owners of the relais also managed a farm on a plot of more than 80 hectares, between Passignano and Tuoro Sul Trasimeno, which still today counts 20 thousand olive trees of different cultivars, a mill for milling, and an artificial pond. Here an excellent extra virgin Dop olive was produced, which was even won by an Ercole Olivario, in 2001. The finished product, in order not to lose its organoleptic properties, was kept in a nitrogen atmosphere, a rare and rarely used method at the time in Italy.

From the ancient rural dwellings that once formed this village, 17 apartments have been created, equipped with all comforts.

Lovers of “slow tourism” here will find a place suspended in time, where the beauty of nature blends perfectly with the arches and vaults of the buildings, the green spaces, the graceful circular square, and the small church in style, which preserve all the ancient charm. There is also a multi-purpose room and a wonderful wedding area that makes Villa Tramonto sul Trasimeno a fabulous location even for weddings. In the outdoor spaces, there is also a panoramic swimming pool overlooking the Trasimeno lake. Adjacent to the pool area there is a small playground for children, while inside the location there is an ancient wood-burning oven where guests can prepare pizza or bread, a barbecue area, table tennis, and a bowling green. There is also the possibility of using mountain bikes for small excursions. Finally there are areas reserved for private parking.

About the Location

Italy, Umbria, Perugia

Perugia is a beautiful medieval city in Umbria, rich in history and art, and its surroundings include evident elements of the Etruscan and the Roman civilizations. The modern part of town is dominated by the presence of its prestigious university which creates a pleasant buzz. There are interesting attractions and a vibrant day scene as well as nightlife with great restaurants and nightspots that make it a very lively place. The historical center displays labyrinth alleys, beautiful arched stairways, and piazzas framed by magnificent palazzi. Its location is offered for daily excursions to places such as Assisi, Spello, and Gubbio. Perugia is just a couple of hours drive north of Rome.

Important sights in the city include the Etrurian Well that is not only a historical site, but is today still the main water source in the city. Besides the well, there are many Etrurian tombs. The 'artistic' center of Perugia revolves around Piazza IV Novembre, where still stands part of the walls that once belonged to the Etruscan city and were accessed using the ancient gates such as the Porta della Mandorla, Porta Marzia and Porta Trasimeno. Other sights of religious importance are the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, Basilica of San Domenico and San Pietro church.

Umbria is a famous region of Central Italy crossed by the beautiful River Tiber. Well known for its old cathedral churches and beautiful villages. It is a less traveled region in Central Italy with many advantages over Tuscany. It is the smallest region in Italy and it doesn’t have a coastline or border with another country. It is an ideal country for those who want to experience Italian art, history, culture and cuisine.

The birthplace of the Roman Empire and Renaissance, Italy, showcases many of the world’s greatest artworks, architectural buildings and over the top gastronomical proposals. This is the country where the word “style” expresses the whole nation. Italy has more Unesco World Heritage cultural sites than any other country; among them are Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Primavera, Michelangelo’s David and Sistine Chapel and da Vinci’s The Last Supper.
