Pefkochori beach is located 68km south of Poligiros, the capital of Halkidiki and 80km from Thessaloniki. It is a dreamy beach with emerald waters and light colored sand. Pefkochori includes great tourist facilities and is a lovely beach resort that gets very busy during the high season. It is an ideal destination for the nature lovers and it includes some nice spots such as the nearby beach of Pagliouri. Families much prefer Pefkochori because of its clean and clear waters. The waterfront of Pefkochori is dotted with nice taverns and terrace cafes overlooking the sea. Pefkohori beach offers many snorkeling sites to enjoy its lively sunbed.
Halkidiki is the most popular tourist destination in northern Greece. It is a peninsula divided into three smaller parts, known as the three legs of Halkidiki. The first leg and most popular one is Kassandra with plenty of tourist resorts and organized beaches. The second peninsula is Sithonia, with less organized resorts and more secluded coves. The third peninsula, Mount Athos, is a nearby monastic community where entrance is allowed only to men and after special permission. Very interesting is a boat trip from Ouranoupolis that makes the tour of Mount Athos, a region with lovely beaches and impressive Byzantine monasteries. The pool is rather small but good enough to cool down during a hot day. The host was very responsive and helped us with everything we needed: information before our arrival and different things during our stay. The beach is close, but you can access it directly, as there are some villas near the sea shore with private beaches. You have to walk around 10-15 min to reach the nearest public beach - not great, not terrible.
