Ylenia Villa Kefalonia is carefully designed and built, making the most of the stunning views, and has been designed that every room features large windows or patio doors that overlook the pool, gardens, and out across to the neighboring island of Zakynthos in the distance.
The ground floor occupies a lovely, airy, open plan, and spacious layout, offering a beautiful corner kitchen including an island and breakfast bar, all of which overlooks the dining and living areas. Three spacious bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms are found within the main accommodation, whilst the fourth bedroom and bathroom is located within an equipped annex, found within a few steps away from the main accommodation; sitting next to the swimming pool.
The infinity swimming pool has also a jacuzzi and it benefits from the use of eco-friendly and hypo-allergenic products, and is surrounded by terracing and gardens, which offer comfy seating placed around the grounds, ideal for relaxing, dining, and enjoying the wonders of this property.
At the village of Lakithra, you can find ( all in walking distance ) a few local amenities, including a bakery shop, a mini-market, a patisserie shop, a few bars, a restaurant with bioproducts, and a couple of tavernas. For a larger selection of amenities, the island's capital Argostoli and the larger resort of Lassi, are located 10 minutes by car away, which boasts a variety of amenities. For beach lovers, the beaches of Makris and Platis Yialos, Ai-Helis, Avithos, Ammes, and Minies can all be reached within a 5-10 minute drive from the villa.
Lakithra is a village in the south of Kefalonia that belongs to the municipality of Livatho. The amphitheatric position of the village offers endless views to the south; the coast of Kefalonia is clearly visible as well as the tiny island of Dias and the Monastery of Panagia Diotissa, located on the top, and the northern coasts of Zakynthos Island. The poet Lord Byron visited Lakithra in the 19th century, during his tour in Greece. Today there stands the “Rock of Byron”, as a reminder, where according to the tradition, the poet sat and meditated. Near to Lakirtha, there is an interesting Mycenaean cemetery, with four vaulted tombs found along with rich offerings, which are displayed in the Archaeological Museum of Argostoli.
Svoronata is a small village on the southern side of Kefalonia located 9km from Argostoli, the capital of the island. Svoronata is also the closest village to the airport of the island but also close to lovely beaches, including Ai-Helis, Avithos, Ammes, Platis Gialos and Makris Gialos, which display soft sand and crystalline waters. The village is very picturesque with traditional architecture found within a verdant embrace. It offers developed touristic infrastructure, being one of the largest villages in southern Kefalonia within the region of Livatho. Svoronata stood relatively lucky in the earthquake of 1953 and was not completely destroyed as most of the island. Famous were the blacksmiths of the village, making wrought iron gates, namely portonia, which are true masterpieces. An excellent piece of architecture is the church of St. Nicholas, the patron saint of the village and the seamen.
Kefalonia is the largest island of the Ionian group, located between Lefkada and Zante. Due to the size of the island Kefalonia never gets too crowded or too noisy, not even in high season and this makes it ideal for family holidays. Famous for the exotic aquamarine color beaches, including Myrtos, Antisamos, Lourdas and Skala, the island has gained popularity as the filming scenery of the Hollywood movie Captain Corelli's Mandolin.
The Ionian Islands are located on the western side of Greece and are historically and culturally strongly connected to Italy with many evident elements of this. The architecture of the capital towns, including Corfu Town, Zakynthos Town and Argostoli, resembles a lot to the Venetian style as these islands were occupied by the Venetians in the medieval times. Another striking characteristic of Ionian Greece is the lush green nature and the aquamarine beaches with white soft sand. Corfu, Zakynthos, Kefalonia and Lefkada are the most popular holiday islands. The Ionian islands also embrace an amazing music and dance tradition.

We spent a wonderful time by the pool and were sad to leave this amazing property (the best we’ve rented to date and we’ve rented quite a few over the years). We can’t wait to spend another wonderful vacation at Villa Ylenia and hope to be back soon.
The property location is peaceful with charming small villages and churches nearby. Lakithra is above sea level giving us unobstructed sea views from the large bedroom balconies and pool area. We heard churchbells and the faint crow of a rooster everyday! There were 2 restaurants, a bakery, and a neighborhood minimart within walking distance. Having a car is a necessity here. Argostoli and 3 supermarkets were a short drive away. Nearby Avithos beach is somewhat sandy, has great swimming, and is developed with umbrellas, sunbeds, beach bar, and 2 tavernas. FYI, the famous Myrtos beach no longer has ANY services, so bring everything you'll need.
Villa Ylenia was gorgeous and very comfortable with beautiful interior decoration. The website photos do not do this property justice. It was built in 2015 with obvious attention to every detail. There is lots of room to spread out and relax! The outdoor spaces and pool were also beautifully finished with high end lounge furniture. The pool is big, very clean and irresistible. I wish I had a pool like that at home! There are fruit trees too. Hanging out at the beautiful villa all day was an attractive daily option.
The kitchen is fully stocked with kitchen ware. We bought all our foodstuffs and bathroom amenities. We bought charcoal and grilled pork chops and shrimps with visiting friends one evening. Eleni, our cheerful housekeeper, came every other day.

The villa & annex were excellent, & the pictures are a true reflection of reality. Safe behind an electronic gate, & angled so that it was totally private with superb views out to sea.
We were a party of 5: 2 adults, 2 parents & a 5 year old, & the property inside & out catered well for all our needs. With the pool, a bedroom, outside seating areas & the annex all on the same level, it was also easy for one of our party with reduced mobility to fully enjoy everything.
The pool & gardens were well maintained, & the inside of both properties were spotlessly clean with high quality fixtures, fittings & furniture. & with clean fresh fluffy towels always on hand, en-suite shower rooms & dressing rooms. More like a holiday home, than a commercial villa.
The location was also excellent. On the outskirts of the quiet Lakithra village, with a handy bakery, mini-market & a few restaurants, within easy driving distance of Argostoli, Lassi, local beaches & country tavernas, & a good base for driving days out.
We very much enjoyed our family holiday at the villa & would highly recommend it. Just a shame we had to leave to come home....
The secluded, architecturally designed villa is set in extensive grounds behind a remote-controlled gated wall and has magnificent views down to the sea and across to Ithaki. The property was brand-new last year and we wondered if it would still be as lovely but it was, everything was still immaculate from soft fluffy white towels, pool towels and lovely bedlinen to the immaculate swimming pool and gardens and garden furniture. Cleaning services by Eleni three times a week and excellent management customer service combine to make it a worry free stay. Special requests e.g. baby facilities are quickly and willingly dealt with.
I have travelled all over the world both for business and pleasure staying in top quality accommodation and would not hesitate to give this my strongest recommendation to both friends and family. We went with family of all ages but it would also make a great venue for a group of friends.
A car is a must but the villa is very handily located from the local bakery over the road to supermarkets about 2/3 miles away and Argostoli (the main town) just another couple of miles down the same road. Beaches are relatively close by, we particularly enjoyed Avythos beach which also has two excellent fish restaurants.
The island also has an ancient and fascinating history for those who desire more than sun, sea and good food! There are also fitness machines and table tennis for the more energetic.
Go, you won't be sorry.
This is a villa that not only offers unrivalled views that sweep across the ocean to nearby Zakinthos, but the villa itself is a stunning luxury to behold.
I believe Ylenia was originally intended to be a smart family home and this is what makes it so very special. Every little touch has been carefully thought about from the tasteful and stunning design, to the spotlessly clean areas both inside and outside - not to mention the added facilities, which include state of the art appliances, a music system that can fill the whole villa with your favorite music and even your very own gym.
I truly felt like a celeb during my stay at Ylenia and felt very privileged to have stumbled across this jewel of Kefalonia.
When booking a holiday here, you actually get much more than the brochure lets on. The management team - from the lovely cleaning lady to the super friendly manager, Iro - could not be more helpful and the stay was a true pleasure from start to finish.
And if you ever feel like leaving the villa, there are some lovely restaurants and beaches a short drive away (not to mention the gorgeous bakery at the top of the road).
I would not hesitate to recommend this villa to any friends and family - in fact I already have. This is a true find if you're looking for a spot of luxury and relaxation. Just, if you do go, please take care of it, because I can't wait to return again!
