Skepasti is a small village located approximately 25km from the city of Rethymno and close to the coastal village of Panormo. Built-in an altitude of 120m, Skepasti nestles among a series of rough mountain hills enjoying a view of the verdant olive plane of Peramathianos. The history of Skepasti is traced back to the Byzantine times. Today worth visiting are some churches dating back to the 14th century and the only windmill in the village. The beaches of Skepasti are located about 27km east of Rethymno and 2km east of the village, in the province of Milopotamos. Skepasti beaches are open to the north winds, with pebbles and deep waters. They are not organized so make sure you have the essentials with you. A good idea is to combine swimming with the pristine beaches, with a visit to the picturesque traditional village of Skepasti.
