Panormo is a seaside village located 20km west of Rethymno. It is believed to have been built on a spot where a homonymous roman city once existed. Panormo has been an important port of Crete since antiquity. Panormo took its current name from the small church Agios Georgios the Panormos. Near Panormo, the 13th-century fortress Castel Milopotamo was built by a Genoese pirate and around it, the settlement constructed, evolved into today’s village of Panormo. In the middle of the village, the unique in Crete carob-mill stands, which was declared an industrial monument by the Ministry of Culture. The largest 5th-century basilica of Crete, Agia Sophia, is located 200 meters far from the village. Finally, the homonymous beach of the settlement and the coast of Geropotamos are the closest beaches for a refreshing dive.

A very nice comfortable house. We found all the important things to have a comfortable stay. The host is very friendly and helped us straightforwardly with every question.
The host was great at responding to and supporting requests. There were 6 adults and it worked very well. Lovely little village for walking to tavernas and cafes. Definitely, an unwinding peaceful place.
Absolutely fabulous villa in a wonderful location. The villa is beautiful and perfectly situated for the beach and town. I have never lay on such comfy sun loungers by a pool. Panormo is such a pretty and lovely little town with great restaurants - all good value and beautiful views. We took taxis around which were a bit expensive as we didn’t hire a car as you don’t need to. Did a sunset cruise in the next town of Bali (had dolphins swimming back with us!) the water park went to Rethymon for the evening - well worth a visit and amazing contrast to Panormo- and the quad bike tour into the mountains was spectacular (transfers included). .
