Makris Gyalos is a famous seaside resort in Lasithi Prefecture 38km south of Sitia and 25km southeast of Ierapetra. Towards the east there is a unique view of the bay of Makry Gialos, revealing all the beauty of the village with its little harbor and large beach. The name Makry Gialos (Long Beach) reveals its main advantage, as it is actually a large bay with a beautiful sandy beach over a kilometer long. Makris Gyalos gained in popularity thanks to a combination of factors; the beauty of its beaches with clear shallow waters, the great food in the nearby taverns, and its busy nightlife considering its size, and at the same time it's very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
