Villa Lemonia at Paradisos Villas Crete consists of a beautifully renovated stone villa that combines past and modern comforts all year. A large outdoor spa keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter. Hammocks and lounge chairs underneath the grapevine pergola keep you serene and relaxed. In cool months, an indoor fireplace converts the summer house into a warm cozy cottage. Lemonia has 2 master bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and an indoor spa tub. Beach less than 5 min walk away.
The whole villa is ground level and handicapped accessible and has two master bedrooms. The west-facing master bedroom features an antique-like cast iron bed with Cocomat (the best eco-friendly Greek) top mattress and has a private bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub/shower combination and two sinks. It has a patio door opening onto a private alcove, with a marble table, stone benches, and barbecue, where you can sit below the thick shadows of a large lemon tree. You will love spending the warm summer hours there, with your favorite novel and a glass of cold lemonade (yes, you can make it yourself by picking lemons from the tree!).
The east-facing master bathroom has a window to a patio with a smaller lemon tree, as well as a private bathroom with a shower. This bedroom is furnished with my family’s treasures. The double wooden bed was built in the late 1950s (do not worry, it has been fully refurbished with a new mattress). The bed covers and curtain dressing have been made in the loom in the 1940s by my great aunt. The white sheets and pillows have been embroiled in the 1960s by my mother. Spotlights highlight the north stone wall above the bed and an old wooden beam inside the south wall, which likely reveals a door that was subsequently closed – a window into the past.
The third bedroom is the largest, with two single beds, a third AMEA bed, and a chair that opens into a single bed. The third bathroom has a handicapped-accessible shower and sink.
Koutsouras is a seaside village in the Lasithi region, located 58km from Agios Nikolaos and 22km from Ierapetra. The inhabitants are primarily employed with agriculture and secondarily with tourism. The forest of Apigania included in the area often hosts cultural events such as concerts and is the starting point of a small gorge that leads to a picturesque chapel after half an hour of hiking. The beach of Koutsouras is paved with dark grey pebbles that contrast with the turquoise waters and have been awarded by the EU with a blue flag for its cleanliness.
Located on the eastern side of Crete, Lasithi is the least tourist region of Crete island. Although it includes some popular places such as Elounda, a VIPs and jet-setters resort, Sissi, Sitia and Ierapetra, the rest of the region has maintained its authentic traditional character, away from mass tourism. Various small towns, busy coastal resorts and picturesque mountainous villages can be found around the prefecture of Lasithi.
