Afandou in Rhodes, Dodecanese Greece is one of the largest villages of Rhodes south of its capital, situated among green hills. Its name is said to have derived from the word "afandos" which means invisible in Greek, due to the fact that it is not visible from the sea, thus unnoticed by the pirates of the past. Afandou has a vibrant center with a lot of cafes and tasteful taverns, and also famous for fine-quality carpet making. The village offers various accommodation as well as a golf course.
