About the Location

Spain, Mallorca, Soller

Soller is set in a lush valley of orange groves, also known as “the valley of gold” between the mountains and the sea; this charming town became wealthy because of its citrus produce and their export to France. Nearby Palma is connected to Soller with a vintage train dating back to 1912 which passes through 13 tunnels opening up to some breathtaking scenic countryside in a journey that counts 28 kilometers.

Soller is made up of narrow streets lined with traditional style townhouses featuring the famous green Mallorcan shutters. The main square, Placa Constitució is Soller’s focal point dominated by the distinctive Sant Bartomeu church and it involves plenty of cafes where you can enjoy a fresh orange juice or coffee. The area has more buzz on Saturdays when the local market takes place. Soller enjoys a rich cultural and historical heritage, evident in its beautiful architecture and various museums. It is also a town that hosts many traditional Mallorcan festivals throughout the year.

Soller lies a couple of miles inland from its port, Port de Soller to which a vintage tram can take you; this is one of the major touristic attractions of the town.

Worth visiting are the Balearic Museum of Natural Sciences and the Jardí Botànic, a garden featuring many Balearic plant varieties, both a short walk from the center, on the road towards the port.

For its more active visitors, Coll de Sóller is a challenge for keen cyclists as well as mountain bikers will have a great playground to explore.

Today Soller has become a trendy holiday destination for the island’s most affluent visitors. A great producer of oranges, Soller offers its gold in liquid form: freshly squeezed orange juice and the delicious liqueur Angel d’Or.

Mallorca is the largest island in the Balearic Islands, which are part of Spain and located in the Mediterranean. The island boasts world-renowned beaches and coves but is also a perfect destination for golf lovers and lovers of culture, water sports, and entertainment. No wonder Mallorca is a favorite holiday destination for jet-setters from the politics, film and fashion scene.
