Dating back to the early 1900s, the villa was built as a country retreat by Ermete Zacconi, the famous theatre actor of the early 20th century who performed, among other stars of the theatre, with Eleonora Duse. Villa Zacconi was a meeting point of the Italian intellectual and artistic élite from Pirandello to Vittorio Gassman and Mario Monicelli. Completely renovated in 2017, it includes all the modern comforts like air conditioning in all rooms, satellite TV, Wi-Fi in and around the villa while retaining its unique “Art Nouveau” charm. In the gardens, there are two gazebos, one for drinks and relaxation and the other for dining, a true oasis of peace and tranquillity.

In the lower garden, there is a large fenced pool (9.6m x 6 m) located at the edge of the forest, reached by a short flight of stairs. The swimming pool is equipped with a solarium in Lecce stone, umbrellas, deck chairs, sun loungers, a ladder for entry/exit and an outdoor shower with hot water. There are also a ping-pong table and a built-in barbecue.

The main entrance leads to a bright and large living room with an open fireplace and sofas. Through French windows, one can access the garden and two gazebos, one for drinks and relaxation, the other with a dining table. On the other side of the living room, there is a corridor furnished with an old Venetian ceramic stove and a beautiful upright piano (Bechstein) leading to the dining table. Another corridor leads to a spacious, well-equipped kitchen with an oven, microwave, “side-by-side” refrigerator, toaster, Nespresso machine, dishwasher and breakfast table. From the kitchen, there is easy access to the garden and the gazebos. Guests can also enjoy a home theatre room equipped with satellite TV, CD/DVD players and top quality hi-fi. Two bathrooms with showers make up the rest of this floor.

On the first floor, the sleeping area, consists of 5 large bedrooms (3 doubles and 2 twins) and 5 bathrooms with showers (1 normal, 4 ensuites, including one with bathtub). On the second floor, there is a lovely apartment, furnished in a contemporary style, with a double bed, bathroom (with shower and bathtub), TV and a terrace. On the top floor, there is a large terrace (5.5m x 9.0 m) furnished with sun loungers, a wicker sofa and armchairs from which to possible admire a breathtaking 360 ° view over the whole Camaiore valley.

About the Location

Italy, Tuscany, Lucca Area

The Lucca Area in Tuscany, Italy will enchant its visitors with its stunning landscape that has been shaped by the mighty Serchio River and is dotted with quaint medieval towns. The heart of this picturesque territory beats in the city of Lucca, famous for its perfectly-preserved defense walls and for its “100 churches”. Since the walls lost their military importance, their top part became a pedestrian promenade and is today one of Lucca's main attractions.

Lucca is very easy to reach both by car as well as train from Pisa or Florence. Stroll around the city to feel the scent of the authenticity of a place that has been favorably forgotten by time. Adorned with plenty of architectural gems, like the churches of San Frediano and San Michele, or the Cathedral of San Martino, it will leave no one indifferent. Amongst the attractions worth seeing, there are Piazza dell’Anfiteatro, built on top of the ruins of a Roman amphitheater, and the Guinigi Tower, at the top of which you will find a shady oasis of oak trees.

For those who love exploring primed gardens, there’s another must-see destination in this area: the stunning Lucchesia villas. Embraced by hills, these countryside “palaces” were built by wealthy merchants in the 15th century to be lavish residences boasting luxuriant gardens, embellished by parks with great attention to detail. These villas and their gardens are spectacular for those who love the camellia flowers, a feature that has made these places beauty unique, including Villa Olivia, Villa Grabau, Villa Reale, Villa Torrigiani and Villa Mansi.

Wine lovers will enjoy exploring the small village of Montecarlo, nestled in the hills and famous for the excellent wine produced by the many companies in the surrounding countryside.

Tuscany is a place like nowhere else in the world; this is the reason why this region is at the tops bucket lists all over the globe. Amazing landscapes, beautiful hilltop towns and the fantastic capital city of Florence charm everyone who decides to visit it. It is a majestic region with almost half of the artistic heritage of Italy and fantastic landscapes. Due to its mild weather, you could visit Tuscany all year round. It’s a region with exceptional art towns and hilltop villages and with a heritage of a glorious past with unspoiled nature, spectacular sea coast, and beautiful islands. Here you will taste some of the best wine varieties and then you can relax to one of its thermal spas.

The birthplace of the Roman Empire and Renaissance, Italy, showcases many of the world’s greatest artworks, architectural buildings and over the top gastronomical proposals. This is the country where the word “style” expresses the whole nation. Italy has more Unesco World Heritage cultural sites than any other country; among them are Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Primavera, Michelangelo’s David and Sistine Chapel and da Vinci’s The Last Supper.
