Papigo village is considered one of the most charming villages of Zagoria and is situated on Astraka, one of the highest peaks of Mount Tymfi. It is 52 km north of the city of Ioannina on the northern side of Vikos gorge and can be accessed by a bridge. Papigo village is divided into Megalo (big) and Mikro (small). The road leading to the village of Papigo is one of impeccable beauty and you will enjoy the ride or walk. The nature touched by the Voidomatis River is breathtaking along with the vistas of the Vikos gorge. Papigo’s stone-alleys offer great strolls, and the two-stored mansions found in the village have been declared a national historical monument. Their construction materials are mainly stones and this applies also to the traditional architecture of the houses and most buildings. These constructions are also unusual because they do not have a balcony. Another sight close to the village would be its stone made natural fountains. Mikro Papago is amphitheatrically built on the steep slopes of the mountain and leads to the popular Dragon Lake, placed on the edge of a great limestone cliff overlooking the Aoos Valley.

We had an amazing stay at 1700. The room was beautiful with spectacular view of the Papigo village. It was very clean and they were very careful with the covid measures. We felt very safe. Very good breakfast with local products! We will definitely go again, we had a great time!
