Papigo village is considered one of the most charming villages of Zagoria and is situated on Astraka, one of the highest peaks of Mount Tymfi. It is 52 km north of the city of Ioannina on the northern side of Vikos gorge and can be accessed by a bridge. Papigo village is divided into Megalo (big) and Mikro (small). The road leading to the village of Papigo is one of impeccable beauty and you will enjoy the ride or walk. The nature touched by the Voidomatis River is breathtaking along with the vistas of the Vikos gorge. Papigo’s stone-alleys offer great strolls, and the two-stored mansions found in the village have been declared a national historical monument. Their construction materials are mainly stones and this applies also to the traditional architecture of the houses and most buildings. These constructions are also unusual because they do not have a balcony. Another sight close to the village would be its stone made natural fountains. the location is breath taking. the room was very large and comfortable. a hot water kettle would have made it perfect. breakfast was a problem - the selection is so wide, and good, it was hard to decide. the restaurant was also good and all the staff, efficient, helpful and friendly.
