Kounopetra is a coastal settlement located on Akrotiri of Palliki, 40km south of the capital of Argostoli and 10km from the picturesque village of Lixouri. The beach displays red sand and shallow waters, ideal for small children. Kounopetra includes remnants of clay, which will give you the chance to enjoy a natural spa. The beach itself is considered a geological phenomenon since it is, in fact, a huge rock that stands out of the sea and creates a relentless movement. This movement ceased after the earthquake of 1953. This is also what its name indicates; rock that moves. Kounopetra has crystal clear waters and is surrounded by lush vegetation. It also includes some tourist facilities.
