Assos is a small village located 36km north of Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia built on a small peninsula. It is considered to be one of the most charming spots on the island. Including ruins of a 16th-century Venetian castle on its top, the village of Assos is reflecting a beautiful and colorful atmosphere with amazing turquoise waters and architecture. The traditional style, the peaceful landscape and the pebbled beaches compose the natural beauty of Assos and will leave its visitors at awe. It is the most idyllic place to stroll around. The visit to the castle requires a long walk amidst olive trees. However, its view from above will be more than rewarding!
Kefalonia is the largest island of the Ionian group, located between Lefkada and Zante. Due to the size of the island Kefalonia never gets too crowded or too noisy, not even in high season and this makes it ideal for family holidays. The accommodation was comfortable and clean and the view was exceptional.
During the holiday a category 1 hurricane hit Assos very badly. The village was in bad shape when we left. The host provide us with warm food even though there was no electricity or running water. They looked after us so well I do not have the words. Lisa, Ellie and David wish to thank Christos, Katorina and the rest of the family for all there help and Costas for driving us to the airport. Many many thanks. I hope Assos has all the help it needs and has a fantastic 2021.
