Alikianos is a small village located 12km from the city of Chania. Accessible through the lush green valley of river Keritis, on the way to Alikianos visitors will pass from the ruins of the beautiful stone bridge of the river that was constructed in 1908 and was destroyed by heavy rainfall in 2019. Alikianos is built at the most fertile part of Crete with golden orange groves. The village consists of modern and traditional stone-built houses and in the central square lie several war monuments dedicated to the men who fell for the country. Famous sightseeing in Alikianos is the Tower Da Molin that belonged to a Venetian ruler of the region in the Middle Ages. The myth says that this tower is haunted because a horrible crime happened there during the wedding party of Da Molin's daughter.

Comfortable house in a very calm area.
Lena and Arben were wondeful hosts!We had lovely two weeks in their villa.The villa is less than 30 min drive to nice beaches and Chania .It was lovely to come back to a beautiful place end enjoy the quite countryside surrounded by orange and avocado trees.The kids loved the pool and the freedom to run around and had lots of fun playing table tennis.We explored the nearby villages and discovered some lovely restaurants with delicious traditional food.The few its breathtaking and having breakfast every morning looking at the beautiful mountains was pricless. The villa is very clean and Lena was very kind to welcome us when we arrived a bit early than the stated check in time.Thank you Lena for your hospitality! We were a group of four friends and had a marvellous stay here. Just perfect if you‘re looking for a quiet, fully equipped place to hang around at the pool, cook some meals or drive out to beaches nearby. Our hosts were available via mobile phone and always very helpful. We were even invited to harvest fruit and vegetables in the garden. The pool and garden were cleaned by a gardener every morning (while we were sleeping, we never noticed them coming) and when we asked for fire wood to use the pizza oven, it was delivered the next day. It felt magical!
Thank you again for a fantastic holiday home. We loved the pool, the fruit trees for fresh orange juice and the quiet location away from all the main tourist areas. Peace and tranquility when we needed it but near enough to Chania, a 25min drive, for old town exploring, a plethora of amazing jewellery around every corner, olive wood items, the mosque and harbour area, a fascinating new archeological museum, hundreds of restaurants, a tiny outdoor cinema and more beaches than you would have time to discover! Not to mention wineries and hillside villages. We loved cooking in the outdoor kitchen - fish, pork, cheese and vegetables galore! The guys at the local supermarket were really welcoming and very helpful with food and recommendations on places to visit. Our hosts were fantastic with swift WhatsApp messages and answers to questions. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt extremely comfortable asking questions. We messaged after picking up our hire car at the airport, our host replied immediately with their number and after a very friendly and welcoming call telling us not to rush and they were very happy to wait whilst we swung by a supermarket for provisions, they greeted us at the house, showed us round and left us to settle in.
Just what the doctor ordered! This villa is better than the pictures, if that’s even possible. We wanted peace and serenity and that’s what we got. Amazing outdoor area, we used the pool and the fire pit every day, and Chania town is only 25 minutes away. We found a fab little taverna (labomba) just up the road, a bakery in the town and a fab grocery store owned by Maria. We would 100% come back to Villa Amelia, loved every second of it. Only downside is that we didn’t want to leave!
