The village of Patellari is situated in the north of Crete, a few kilometers south of the popular tourist resort of Platanias and 17 km away from the town of Chania. This is a martyred village which experienced the brutality of the Nazis along with many casualties, after the 1941 Battle of Crete during the German Occupation. At the entrance of Patellari, there is a historical monument that reminds of that era. In the village, there are several churches, including a very small one, worth visiting. Along the village flows a river. Patellari is a verdant place surrounded by olive groves, vineyards, and citrus that will offer a tranquil vacation for nature lovers.
