The surrounding countryside, secluded by hills, is perfect for hiking. It can lead visitors to interesting footpaths starting from nearby tavernas with traditional Cretan food. Large open space living area with comfortable furniture, dining area, downstairs WC, and a fully equipped kitchen. From the dining area, there is access to a covered balcony with mesmerizing views, where you can enjoy your breakfast. Two light and airy bedrooms with fitted wardrobes and access to the balcony. A spacious bathroom is located upstairs. From the front side of the garden, each villa has a swimming pool with sunbeds for enjoying the sun. In the backyard, there is a small garden with lemon trees.
Kournas village is built at a height of 250 meters. The northern side of the village offers a beautiful view of the sea while the southern part overlooks the valley at the foothill of the White Mountains. Stroll around the village to see many old and renovated traditional houses. Kournas is well known due to the Church of Agios Georgios, one of the oldest in Crete, built in 1200 AD. It is also famed for its great traditional dishes that are offered in the taverns and of course the lake of Kournas which is the only sweet water lake in Crete. Most of the inhabitants are farmers, therefore Kournas is a lively village where you can witness the squeezing of the grapes in September and in the October distilling of the "tsikoudia" (the Cretan raki) and have a hands-on experience of the Cretan tradition.

The house is in a very quiet location with a choice of tavernas and the lake within easy walking distance. It was spotlessly clean and the host was a supremely good host. Very much recommended.
