Ancient Ialyssos of Rhodes used to be one of three earliest city-states on Rhodes Island. Ialyssos is located about 10 to 15 km away from the present town of Rhodes on top of a fortified hill. In the 20th century, under the ruling of Italians, an old Byzantine monastery of the 6th century was rebuilt into a church in order to attract tourists. It comprised four chapels, one dedicated to the Orthodox Christians, one to the Catholics, one to the Knights and one to its old relics. It is worth to drive around the island and explore its magnificent beaches, its impressive sights and picturesque villages. Rhodes predominant element is its medieval architecture and the many interesting monuments scattered around the island. The nicest features of this property are the spacious and well-furnished villa, the immaculately kept yard, and of course the heated pool and jacuzzi!
We were an 8-person group of friends that had to wait three years for this holiday because to Covid limitations. The property is fantastic, lavish, and roomy with a ton of communal rooms and quieter areas for relaxation. The pool was a fair size, and there were amusing inflatables available. Both during the day and at night when it is lit up, the hot tub and balcony area make a beautiful location to unwind. We particularly like the outside dining and cooking area, which was excellent for BBQs. Our hosts were prompt in replying to any questions and highly attentive.
Such a wonderful villa and vacation we enjoyed! Together with our three sons, partners, and two grandchildren, we stayed for the first two weeks of July (8 month and 2yr). For the owner, Despoina, and her family, nothing was too much problem. They were very friendly and accommodating. Given that the villa is rather out in the country, Gregory, our local taxi driver, came in handy. Gregory took over as our driver for the two weeks and never failed to impress. He also gave us great restaurant recommendations. The villa itself was immaculate, contemporary, and roomy, and the pool and barbecue were ideal for our party of ten. I would simply add that you must need a car to move about.
We wanted to book a family holiday that would allow us all to relax at the villa and enjoy some time together in our ever increasingly busy lives. The villa was absolutely perfect and the responsiveness from Despoina and Stelios before and during our stay was incredibly good. I have detailed below a snapshot of our memories:
- the enormous inflatables in the pool were an enormous hit with the children
- the impressive 600€ first shop of many from conveniently located Lidl.
- the superb special meal that George the Chef cooked for us one evening. The food was to die for and he was perfect in every way.
- The large fridge in the BBQ area that was brilliant as an overflow from the kitchen for ice-cold beers and Prosecco.
I could go on - but most importantly, the responsiveness of Despoina and Stelios to help us in any way they could, both before we arrived and during our stay - it really was excellent.
Would we return - yes - in a heartbeat.

The Villa was amazing especially the pool area and outdoor BBQ as this is were we spent the majority of our time .All the fixtures and fittings were quality along with the linen and additional extras.
It is situated in a quiet location and extremely secure , but still within 15 minutes drive of the main centre and 5 minutes to local shops .
The Owners were extremely helpful and nothing was to much trouble for them .
We would recommend this Villa and the owners to anyone.
