Archangelos village in Rhodes, Dodecanese is located south of the City of Rhodes, on the eastern coast of the island. The village boasts traditional architecture with narrow streets, picturesque houses with arches, in vivid colors as well as walls decorated with ceramics, which is the local produce. Beautiful squares with aged tall trees are where people gather to enjoy a coffee or a chat. Archangelos village has a very friendly and tranquil character and its inhabitants stick to the traditions and customs of the past; passing from their yards you will feel the scent of freshly baked bread. Archangelos is one of the biggest villages, thus not densely populated and people here still speak a kind of dialect. The traditional pottery and carpet-making art are still practiced along with the confection of high leather boots. The Church of the Archangel Michael dominates the village and worth visiting is the Church of Saint John which houses beautiful frescoes that date back to the 14th century. The ruins of the castle of Saint John are standing on the top of the hill at 10-20 minutes’ walk from the village.
