The island of Koh Kho Khao in Phang Gha is just a ten-minute boat ride from the Takua Pa area of Phang Nga province and is popular as a family beach destination that’s not as remote as nearby Ko Phra Thong but also not as busy as Khao Lak or Phuket. The island is known for its long stretches of powdery golden sand that are not that different from the beaches of the Khao Lak area further south. Koh Kho Khao beaches are ideal for romantic strolls and they boast dazzling sunsets. The island impresses its visitors with its history and traces of a glorious ancient civilization. Archaeologists presume that the island with its harbor was part of a former trading route which used to link India, China, the Middle East and Malaysia.
