Patong is a beach resort town on the west coast of Phuket, facing the Andaman Sea in the southwest of Thailand. It is a lively place with its sandy beach lined with cafes, restaurants and bars. Famous for its nightlife scene, it features a wide variety of nightclubs, bars, go-go bars, massage parlors, and cabarets that dominating the neon-lit Bangla Road and in the Patong OTOP Shopping Paradise complex. Being the center for shopping and crazy nightlife, Patong attracts a lot of tourists throughout the year. The beach became popular with Western tourists, especially Europeans, in the late-1980s. Today it counts numerous hotels and is a pole of attraction for the crowds who wish to have fun. With its wide range of activities and nightlife, Patong will cover multiple tastes. Its bustling nightlife is centered around Soi Bangla which can get very crowded. However, there are quiet parts of town for those who do not wish to participate in this endless party. If what you are looking for is to experience traditional exotic Phuket, this is not so much the place to do so, since it is modernized with neon lights and a chaotic atmosphere which for some can be overwhelming.
