Alexandre Dumas, Ernest Hemingway, Orson Welles, and many other artists have described, in their works or writings, the strong sensations provoked by their discovery of the town of Ronda, in Spain. Weighty with a complex history rich in numerous influences, the town, and its well-preserved surroundings are also highly picturesque. Here, things are like nowhere else; everything is strangely poetic, dreamlike, almost supernatural.

During your stay, a guest experience manager is on hand 24/7 to ensure your comfort. Once you enter the security close-gated complex, you’ll feel like you’re in your own private wine land in Tuscany, complete with an infinity pool, BBQ, wine cellar, sauna, Wi-Fi, and modern decoration to suit both motivated guests and those who just want to relax. Spend the day exploring by bicycle or lounging on the terrace by the pool, then try out Spanish cuisine on the barbecue or in the wood-fired oven paired with the wine that is produced in the same area.

The stunning contemporary interiors of Hacienda Bodeguera in Ronda with modern furnishings, perfectly integrating the exterior as part of the house, create sophisticated yet comfortable spaces where the whole family can relax. The fully equipped kitchen is particularly welcoming, thanks to a large farmhouse-style breakfast table. Hacienda Bodeguera has 4 beautifully appointed bedrooms with a bathroom in the suite and crystal glasses overlooking the surroundings, adding to the feeling of being on holiday at a private resort. Three bedrooms have king-size beds, another one has two twins beds. There is a fantastic sauna integrated into the master suite.

While you could spend your stay at the villa, simply watching the light move across the landscape, it’s well worth exploring the region and the vineyards around the property, getting familiar with the production process of the wine right from the roots, taking with the workers on the field. Spend a day marveling at the scenery in one of the two nearby national parks in Ronda or visit the old city of Ronda to see the old bridge and the dramatic ravine or enjoy a honeymoon-worthy dinner with spectacular hilltop views. Take a day trip to Seville for incredible architecture and equally memorable flamenco performances, to oceanfront Malaga for its museums, or to Marbella and the beaches of the Costa del Sol if you’re in need of sand and sun or a round of golf.

About the Location

Spain, Andalusia, Malaga Province

Ronda is a city located on the top of a mountain in Spain’s Malaga province that’s set above a deep gorge, El Tajo, boasting dramatic views. El Tajo gorge separates the city’s new town from its old town, dating to Moorish rule. Benchmark of the new town is famous Plaza de Toros, a legendary 18th-century bullring.

Despite being a growing town Ronda retains much of its historic charm, particularly its old town. Visitors flock to see the 18th century Puente Nuevo 'new' bridge, which straddles the 100m chasm below the gorge, before taking in the views from the Alameda out over the Serranía de Ronda Mountains.

Ronda is also famous as the birthplace of modern bullfighting, today present once a year at the spectacular Feria Goyesca. Held at the beginning of September, here fighters and some of the audience dress in the manner of Goya's sketches of life in the region. Legendary Rondeño bullfighter Pedro Romero also left his trace here. The bullring, Plaza de Toros, is now a museum, and visitors can stroll out into the arena.

A few kilometers from the historic center, in the countryside far from crowds and urban bustle, Rasero Retreat is a peaceful and serene place to retreat, an ideal pied-à-terre for this part of the Marbella hinterland.
