REVIEW SCORE

This stylishly decorated and designed La Rive Penthouse is perfectly set up for hosting guests on the deck, soaking up the hot summer Cape Town days or sundowners as the cool evening sea breeze brings respite. If getting away from Cape Town’s hubbub and finding solace in your very own sanctuary is your preference, look no further than this completely private and secluded abode.

The panoramic views of the ocean, the mountains, and the Metropolitan Golf Course sweeping around the Penthouse are hard to be rivaled.

The Breakers was completed in 2001, but this luxury rental was completely redone less than 2 years ago, giving it an Art Deco feel, with an eclectic, modern twist. The double volume living area is stylishly furnished and tastefully decorated with numerous world-class paintings and sculptures from some of South Africa’s most well-known artists. A classic grand piano immediately catches one’s eye when entering the living area.

The entertainment area is ideal for hosting dinner parties of up to 20 people and festivities can easily be moved outside for cocktail parties or sundowners on the terrace. The sea-facing pool terrace is completely protected from Cape Town’s infamous South Easter that blows throughout summer and is entirely private.

This south-facing apartment catches all the reflected light from the surrounding apartments. At night is when the magic truly comes alive. The energy of the bustling bodies running and walking along the famed promenade subsides and is dwarfed by the surreal silhouette of Lions Head overlooking the glistening night lights of Sea Point.

The incredibly comfortable and spacious bedrooms are situated far enough away from each other to provide guests with their own privacy and solitude. Two spacious and elegantly furnished studies provide guests with a conducive environment to tackle any urgent business or work requirements that may arise during their stay.

About the Location

South Africa, Cape Town

Cape Town is the oldest city in South Africa, also known as the Mother City and is the legislative capital of South Africa also home to The Parliament of South Africa. The city is known for its harbor, for its natural setting and landmarks such as Table Mountain and Cape Point. It is one of the most multicultural cities in the world, as a major melting pot destination for immigrants and expatriates to South Africa. The city was named the World Design Capital for 2014 and in the same year as the best place in the world to visit by both The New York Times.

Located on the shore of Table Bay, Cape Town is the oldest urban area of South Africa and in the past, it operated as a supply station for Dutch ships sailing to East Africa, India, and the Far East. Before the development of Johannesburg, Cape Town was the largest city in South Africa.

In Cape Town, you will come across one of the most beautiful views from the famous Table Mountain. On the eastern slopes of Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens are part of the Cape Floristic Region UNESCO World Heritage site. The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is probably the most popular touristic attraction of Cape Town, being a buzzing entertainment quarter reminiscent of Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. Today, many of the old buildings have been preserved and restored. Within or in proximity to this quarter you will find benchmark sights such as the Two Oceans Aquarium, Cape Town Stadium which hosted FIFA World Cup in 2010 and you can enjoy trips to Robben Island. This district also includes many museums, restaurants, bars and anything you could ask for.

South Africa, the southernmost country on the African continent, is characteristic for its varied landscape, breathtaking natural beauty, and cultural diversity, which make it one of the most interesting countries in the world and a favorite destination for travelers since the legal ending of apartheid in 1994. South Africa has three cities that serve as capitals: Pretoria, Cape Town and Bloemfontein. Johannesburg is the largest urban area in the country and a center of commerce. Lagos and Cairo are also among its most visited countries.
