Outside by the beach, there are multiple terraced patios, along with the 20-meter (65’6”) infinity-edge swimming pool with a built-in lounging area – great for kids learning to swim or adults sipping a cold one. Down six steps from the elevated pool patio is the lush tropical beach-front garden with paths leading to the beach-front palapa and the beach. Three ocean kayaks are available for villa guests. Villa Zen del Mar is fully staffed by a dedicated concierge, two maids, and a caretaker/butler. All 7 Bedrooms are gracefully designed with Saltillo tiled floors, hand-honed walls, and seven custom-hardwood king-size beds. Ultra-luxurious crisp and cool Egyptian cotton luxury linens are draped with Mexican artisan bed coverings, embroidered bed canopies, and authentic Yucatecan hardwood doors. Zen style showcases a blend of ancient Mayan, Spanish colonial, and modern Mexican craftsmanship. The living and dining areas, with their hidden sliding glass doors offer a wonderful space for family and friends to enjoy the view of the terrace, pool and interior all at once; adding a spark of fun to the peaceful flow of the villa.

These beautifully designed bedrooms do their part for your Zen experience with their luscious king-sized beds and shaded balconies. Two oversized penthouse suites offer tropical elegance as you sleep under a thatched roof and wake up to magnificent views of the ocean. Each bedroom has a unique bathroom and some with hand-made bathtubs. The complete Seclusion offered by the walled garden ensures complete privacy from the outside world, where the only bustle you’ll see might be from the many birds that visit the flowers and trees.

The Spa Palapa sits at the far end of the long pool where you can relax with expert stress dissolving massage – four one-hour complimentary massages are included with a one-week rental. Recharge …. Sitting on the terrace sipping your morning coffee, looking out to sea, hearing the rolling waves come to shore and the gentle breeze gliding through the coconut trees, you can truly understand what “Zen” means. Nature seems to be echoing a relaxing mantra all about you. This spot is definitely a practice that needs to be experienced – external realities melt away. Our seven-bedroom villa on Jade Bay in Akumal, Zen del Mar, is just that – a place of serenity on the water. The villa´s three garden terraces with dining and a pool lead you to one of the Coast´s most important sea turtle nesting beaches. You can stroll along the shore, snorkel the surreal bay or chill in the shade of the beach palapa on a hanging beach bed.

About the Location

Mexico, Quintana Roo, Riviera Maya

Akumal is one of the oldest coastal resorts in Maya Riviera Mexico. Its name translates into ‘Place of the Turtles’. It was built on the site of a former coconut plantation. Akumal beach boasts white soft sand and aquamarine waters that host a beautiful coral reef and a rich marine world. The beach town was built in 1958 as a community for scuba divers by Pablo Bush Romero, a Mexican businessman, diver and archeologist. Today the public beach attracts snorkelers who want to swim with turtles.

Besides the coral and colorful marine life, the bay town is also an artist’s hub. The four consecutive bays are lined with villa residences and in one of them you will find the spectacular Yal-Ku lagoon where fresh and saltwater mix and it is home to colorful tropical fish, barracudas and stingrays. Test out all of the fresh ceviches served at restaurants along the bays. If you want to explore further, the nearby area is dotted with cenotes, the mystical Aktun Chen cave system, and the beautiful Xel Ha or Coba ruins, for day trips.

Still famous for its beautiful beach and large, swimmable lagoon, Akumal attracts turtles, though in far fewer numbers than before due to the massive development on nearly all of their nesting grounds. Akumal consists primarily of lavish hotels, condominiums and residential developments much preferred by Americans and Canadians. If you are looking for your place in a tropical paradise, Akumal will fulfill all the requirements.

Riviera Maya in Mexico is one of the most stunning and safest destinations, Locals say that if you dig deep enough anywhere in Riviera Maya, you will hit the water. This just goes to show how many options there are for swimming and underground rivers the area has.

Quintana Roo is one of the 31 states of Mexico well known for its beautiful regions. Visit Cancun and swim at the beautiful reefs while you will be dazzled by the magical nightclubs at Zone Hotelera. Tulum is also a magical city with ancient Magia ruins while at Playa del Carmen you will feel that you will not want to leave. The island of Isla Mujeres, Isla Holbox, and Cozumel is ideal for island hopping! Puerto Morelos is also an ideal destination for diving at its reef. The Reserva de la Biosfera Sian Ka’an is a must-visit destination, as it is a sanctuary of wildlife with beautiful ancient ruins.

Mexico is a country in the southern portion of North America, bordered to the north by the United States; to the south and west by the Pacific Ocean; to the southeast by Guatemala, Belize, and the Caribbean Sea; and to the east by the Gulf of Mexico. Palm-fringed beaches, chili-spiced cuisine, steamy jungles, teeming cities, fiesta fireworks, Frida’s angst: Mexico conjures up diverse, vivid dreams. And the reality lives up to them.
