REVIEW SCORE

Among the most beautiful luxury villas that overlook Lake Garda from the Baia delle Sirene, Villa Gemma del Lago is the perfect setting that best represents one of the magical places sung by Goethe. Over the years this area has been chosen by poets, illustrious and noble personalities for stays and holidays. In fact, Maria Luigia, Duchess of Parma, the King of Naples, Emperor Alexander of Russia, and Prince Charles of England passed through here, along with personalities such as Winston Churchill, the scientist Otto Hahn and his wife, the 'actor Laurence Olivier, actress Vivien Leigh and painter Edith Junghans.

Its rooms will welcome you in the best way, telling you about the history of a unique place but also of those who wanted to build these spaces, the Mildmay barons. The noble coat of arms of the family appears in the enchanting mosaic, in the large loggia in front of the main terrace. In the 1950s the villa was bought by the family of the current owners who, less than ten years ago, started a major renovation. The intervention, carried out with love and passion for beautiful things, has perfectly fused the historical and classic elements of the Villa with the new, the modern and the functional, transforming this noble residence into a modern home complete with every type of service and comfort, including a wellness area with sauna, Turkish bath and indoor pool.

The renovation ended in June 2016 with a redesign of the large outdoor park, which measures approximately 10 thousand square meters and in which new plants have been added alongside the centenary ones already present. The work was completed with the construction of a suggestive outdoor infinity pool with a breathtaking view of Lake Garda. The Villa opens to guests with a living room that offers the best welcome on the main floor where, in addition to the living room and a kitchen overlooking the lake, a dining room for sixteen people and a relaxation area; you will also find a library, a grand piano to make your stay even more exciting, and an enchanting terrace overlooking the lake furnished with sitting areas and a table for eight people.

Going up to the first floor you will find four double bedrooms, all with lake views and - the suite - with walk-in closet and a large terrace and with three bathrooms, while on the second attic floor you will find another five bedrooms, each complete with private bathroom. Finally, in the basement you will be welcomed by absolute relaxation through a series of exclusive proposals: billiard room, swimming pool with hydromassage, wellness area, equipped gym, cellar, cinema room with a Bluray video library and tavern. For your free time outdoors, however, there is also a beach with private access. The list of services that you can enjoy in the structure is endless: chef at your disposal, grocery shopping, car and boat rental, yoga teacher and personal shopper as well as a guide to discover the beauties of the surroundings, taste wines and visit wineries.

Villa Gemma del Lago is located in an ideal area for hiking: a few hundred meters from this fairytale place it will be possible to discover ancient rock carvings, not far from here the sanctuary of Marciaga. The thermal baths of Sirmione are about ten kilometers away, the Garda thermal park less than thirteen kilometers, Gardaland fourteen and the Viva nature park less than fifteen kilometers. The closest airport is Verona, less than forty kilometers away.

About the Location

Italy, Veneto, Garda

Garda, a small town on the east shore of Lake Garda in northeastern Italy, is a wonderful resort located in the Veneto region of Italy. You will undoubtedly want to start with a walk on the shoreline of the lake and admire the nature unfolding in front of you. There is a sidewalk along the water's edge that stretches across the city and is covered by beautiful trees in many places.

On the one hand, there is a beautiful view of Lake Garda, and on the other, you can walk next to the port with the fleet of tiny boats, where you can also book your boat trips on the lake. There are many tiny pubs and cafes on the other side of the sidewalk where you can stop for a drink.

Behind the seafront, the ancient city is also extremely attractive. The streets are small and full of colorful buildings, many of which have been turned into tourist shops and will make you wander in the old town gazing at the shop windows. There are also many restaurants in Garda where it may be best to find a shady area for your lunch in the old town rather than on the lake shore. We recommend visiting Malcesine, a small town north of Garda, and Lazise, a town south.

Veneto, located in the Northern Italian region is an unexplored region with a plethora of things to see taste, and do. This is home to the provinces of Belluno, Padua, Rovigo, Treviso, Verona, and Vicenza. Visit its sparkling beaches on the Adriatic sea or the snow-capped peaks of the Dolomites and learn more about its rich history and art. You should see the Medieval Walled cities of Marostica, Montagnana, Castelfranco Veneto, and Citadella and imagine how life was during the Middle Ages. Here is the birthplace of Andrea Palladio the Renaissance architect whose influence on construction and design is shown up to nowadays, architectural gems are scattered throughout the area such as the famous Basilica Palladiana well worthy of a visit and a fantastic stop for culture lovers as it now hosts art exhibitions and is also home to a jewelry museum.
Romeo and Juliet’s Country will amaze you with its local tradition related to the lovers. The fertile valleys of Valpolicella, less than 30 minutes drive from Verona, are perfect for producing a delicious wine. Go to Allegrini, one of the most established Amarone producers, or sit for a tasting at the small biodynamic vineyard of Corte Sant’Alda. Taste its local cuisine from the fabulous cheese of Asiago to the tiramisu of Treviso. The largest lake in Italy is in the Veneto. Go to the famous lake Garda and eat Italian gelato while flitting between Lazise and Malcesine.

The birthplace of the Roman Empire and Renaissance, Italy, showcases many of the world’s greatest artworks, architectural buildings and over the top gastronomical proposals. This is the country where the word “style” expresses the whole nation. Italy has more Unesco World Heritage cultural sites than any other country; among them are Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Primavera, Michelangelo’s David and Sistine Chapel and da Vinci’s The Last Supper.
