Akrotiri Santorini is located next to the famous Red Beach. It is amphitheatrically built at the southeastern side of the island. Akrotiri is the most important archeological site of Santorini for the fact that it used to be a Minoan settlement which was destroyed around 1600 BC due to a devastating volcanic eruption.
