Arc 1800 is the biggest of the resort areas and consists of four "villages" known as "Charvet", "Villards", "Charmettoger", and "Chantel". It comprises around 100 shops as well as shuttle services, hotels, meeting rooms, a two-screen cinema and an ice rink. The village has gained popularity also by hosting in the past the snowboarding and dance music snow bombing event.
The village is conveniently positioned on the mountain, just above the resort of Arc 1600, and thanks to its altitude it remains above the snow line for the entire winter. The "TransArc" gondola reaches the top of the Arc 2000 valley quickly and there is a good selection of ski lifts, such as the six-seater Vagere, to take skiers to the various parts of the mountain.
Arc 1800 occasionally has the benefit of better weather conditions, due to the position of the mountain. When heavy snowfalls at Arc 2000, it can be closed down and can also be at the mercy of heavy winds funneling down to the valley. This is not a problem for Arc 1800, which is also west facing and thus benefits from sunshine in the afternoon. Lately, it has become one of the most trendy places that enjoy a very festive spirit.
Made of 4 pedestrian villages on the edge of the forest and a real balcony over the Haute-Tarentaise, Arc 1800 is the confluence point of Paradiski. Off-season, Arc 1800 offers beautiful trails among fascinating verdant scenery and a range of alternative sports that attract nature and action lovers all year round.
Municipality of Savoie, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Les Arcs take place near Bourg-Saint-Maurice, Landry, Peisey-Nancroix and Villaroger. A well-known winter sports resort, it is located on the northern slopes of the Vanoise massif.
The station takes its name from the valley of the Arc, nearby. It was born in the course of the 1960s, by the will of Robert Blanc then mountain guide and Roger Godino, developer of tourism development in the mountains. Several villages were built over the years, with Arc 1600 in 1968, Arc 1800 in 1974, Arc 2000 in 1979, and Arc 1950 in 2003. The same year, it joined the ski area of Paradiski with a connection with La Plagne.
Labeled Station Grande Domaine and Station news glide, it remains very popular with lovers of outdoor life and mountain sports because of its modern infrastructure and its special appeal.
