The Tamanu Beachfront Villa at Tamanu Beach Resort is perhaps in the best location in ALL of Aitutaki. Big call I know. Being in the lee of the Island and with amazing Pacific sunsets and the classic coconut palm leaning across the white sand - it is hard to beat! The Villa has an elevated super-king bed with views across the Amuri lagoon and onto the endless Pacific Blue. Imagine yourself waking up to that every day. - the perfect picture to wake up to. The Villa features an Alfresco open-air style kitchenette with stunning Tamanu (local mahogany) timber benchtops. For those who want to cook up their own freshly caught mahimahi - I recommend you order salads and side dishes for two directly from our kitchen and then grill the mahimahi and serve up at your leisure.

Tamanu beachfront Villa is spacious and well-appointed with Polynesian style decor, a large walk-in shower with HIS & HERS monsoon roses, and a view (if you choose) out across the lagoon from the privacy of your shower. You also have your own private access directly to the beach. The Resort is proudly family-owned and operated and offers guests a truly wonderful experience combining a blend of culture, tradition, superb beachfront location, and friendly local Cook Islands hospitality.

Located only 5 minutes from the Airport and 10 minutes to Arutanga township, the resort has all the facilities one expects of a superior resort. From the beautifully appointed Villa/Bungalow accommodation to the private beach to the Tamanu Restaurant onsite, this Resort is sure to impress. Relax by the pool and enjoy a cocktail or take time to explore the lagoon through a bit of snorkeling, kayaking or swimming. The beach here is one of the best on the island. Visit the resorts’ Giant Clam called “Clamentine” which is about 20 years old and rests in the lagoon just in front of the Purotu property.

About the Location

Cook Islands, Aitutaki

Aitutaki is one of the Cook Islands, north of Rarotonga and the second most popular island of this island complex. The main village is Arutanga on the west side. Aitutaki means "a little paradise" and for a good reason and it is home to approximately 1800 people and the world’s most beautiful lagoon. It's just a 50-minute flight from Rarotonga. Escape to this secluded paradise composed of 15 islets sprinkled across this huge turquoise lagoon.

Aitutaki is the second most visited island in the Cook Islands. Its amazing shades of almost transparent water and its lush vegetation makes it very alluring for honeymooners. The most relaxing atmosphere and the jaw-dropping surroundings will spell bound every visitor. Enjoy the sun under a coconut palm, relax with a massage or find your way to the secret garden.

Aitutaki is famous for its turquoise central lagoon, uninhabited islands and palm-fringed beaches. Another advantage is that until now it has been spared by mass tourism. Worth seeing also are an old church, the oldest in the Cook Islands and some gigantic Banyan trees.

Tapuaetai which translates to ‘One Foot Island’ is a small islet in the south-east of the lagoon, and is often said to be the most important attraction. It offers the best views of the Aitutaki lagoon. The trip to this island is the most frequented trip available on Aitutaki. One Foot Island has been awarded "Australasia's Leading Beach" at the World Travel Awards held in Sydney.

The Cook Islands is an island country in the South Pacific Ocean in free association with New Zealand. It comprises 15 islands with a total land area of 240 square kilometers. The Cook Islands lie north-east of New Zealand, between French Polynesia and Fiji. Nowadays, the population is less than 20,000, although many more Cook Islanders live in New Zealand.
