Aitutaki is one of the Cook Islands, north of Rarotonga and the second most popular island of this island complex. The main village is Arutanga on the west side. Aitutaki means "a little paradise" and for a good reason and it is home to approximately 1800 people and the world’s most beautiful lagoon. It's just a 50-minute flight from Rarotonga. Tapuaetai which translates to ‘One Foot Island’ is a small islet in the south-east of the lagoon, and is often said to be the most important attraction. It offers the best views of the Aitutaki lagoon. The trip to this island is the most frequented trip available on Aitutaki. One Foot Island has been awarded "Australasia's Leading Beach" at the World Travel Awards held in Sydney.
