REVIEW SCORE

Imagine a place where you can enjoy incredible natural beauty without the crowds. Where you can get away from it all and relax...truly, deeply relax. Explore the best of Oregon's spectacular south coast in any season. Hiking. Biking. Golf. Jet boats or kayaking. Watching for storms or whales. Or, you could just stay in town, visit eight art galleries, a working lighthouse, a dozen trails and an uncrowded beach to hunt for agates.

WildSpring is a small, eco-friendly bed and breakfast resort in Port Orford, 60 miles north of California. Private and secluded, on five acres of a lovely residential forest, with a zero carbon footprint, it offers comfortable luxury in a naturally beautiful environment. You'll feel like you're visiting a private estate rather than a hotel. Stay in cozy, elegant cabin suites filled with art and antiques, in a quiet forest of 100-ft trees. Relax in the Guest Hall with a floor-to-ceiling ocean panorama. Help yourself to refreshments at any time (including popcorn and chocolates!) and play a game or work on an old-fashioned jigsaw puzzle. Sleep in a peaceful forest where the loudest sound you hear all night is an owl. Enjoy a breakfast buffet overlooking the ocean and look for whales and fishing boats. At night, float in the open-air slate spa, listen to the surf and watch the Milky Way.

The five cabin suites are built like small homes, with radiant-heated floors (so even your toes aren't cold when you walk into the bathroom), vaulted ceilings, and separate sleeping and living areas that can be divided by pocket doors. The bedrooms have a queen pillow-top, top of the line Simmons mattress and the livingrooms have loveseats and sofas that can be made into pull-out beds (see the individual cabin descriptions for details). They're nestled among a quiet residential forest of 100-ft trees where it's cool and shady. From 50 to 100 ft apart, they all face away from each other, with greenery and artistic fence sections placed to ensure privacy. (They are less than a 2-minute walk to the ocean-view part of the property with the Guest Hall and spa.)

They're filled with artwork, plush, overstuffed loveseats, antique and vintage furniture. Add luxury towels, spa robes and lush chenille throws, and you'll find extra pillows in the chest at the end of the bed. Each cabin suite has a refrigerator, massage table, a 28" LED TV/DVD combo, which can easily be moved from the bedroom into the livingroom, (movies only - with a great library of over 600 DVDs in the Guest Hall bathroom) and Sony CD/iPod stereo.

You'll also find a special WildSpring CD, wine glasses and cork screw, hiking guide, candles and lighter, hair dryer, sewing kit. We can even bring you a toothbrush, toothpaste and shaving gear if you'd like. The large cabin, Annwyn, has a lovely old Vermont Castings woodburning stove, is already set up to light, and we provide all your wood and starters free. The bathrooms are works of art, accessible from either the bedroom or livingroom. Enjoy the oversized walk-in slate showers with brushed nickel fixtures. There are convenient walnut shelves for your personal items. The Gilchrist & Soames bodycare amenities are natural and only very lightly scented.

There are no phones, TV reception or cooking facilities in the cabins, but there is a free high-speed DSL-based WiFi network for your laptop. If you need computer access, or to print something out, you can use the office computer. And there is good cell-phone reception depending on your carrier. While the cabins are the same configuration, they differ because of two things: the amount of ambient light they get (depending on how they're situated among the trees) and the interior decor/color palette.

About the Location

USA, Oregon

Oregon is located on the West Coast, right between Washington and California. It is composed of seven diverse regions which include pretty much everything; the ocean, mountains, valleys, high desert, cities and small towns. The city of Portland is one of the highlights of Oregon for its quirky, avant-garde culture and is home to iconic coffee shops, boutiques, traditional breweries, and farm-to-table restaurants. Must-sees of the city include the Native American art in the Portland Art Museum, the Japanese Garden and the Lan Su Chinese Garden.

Oregon is a playground for active people. You can sight-see the beautiful coast, volcanic mountains, crystal-clear lakes and vast deserts, go cycling surrounded by unimaginable scenery and enjoy kayaking, windsurfing, golfing and so much more! It is also a unique culinary destination with some of the best food and craft beer in the country.Experiencing Oregon in the outdoor involves hiking the rugged coastline or the wooded Willamette National Forest, camping in the desert near Steens Mountain, or exploring the snow-capped Wallowa Mountains, also known as “Little Switzerland”. Venture the volcanic foothills of Mt. Hood, the beauty of the Umpqua National Forest, or a mountain lake in the Deschutes National Forest. Oregon State Parks offer beautiful picnicking spots to enjoy nature in peace. Don’t miss the spectacular Crater Lake, the breathtaking colors of the Painted Hills in John Day. Some of the most important towns you can visit is hip Portland, Ashland and of course Bend for its brewpubs!

All in all, Oregon is an amazing state with both wild beauty and urban sophistication.

The United States of America is a large country in North America, home to the world's third-largest population, with over 318 million people, including both densely populated cities with sprawling suburbs and vast, uninhabited areas.
