Pranburi beach lies on the west side of the Gulf of Thailand, about thirty minutes south of popular resort Hua Hin, on the Gulf of Siam. Though it doesn’t enjoy as much popularity as Hua Hin, it includes some beautiful beaches, nice views, and a very relaxed environment away from the big crowds. Pranburi is the main water resource of the area and is named after the River Pran which runs through it. ‘Paknam’ means river mouth and ‘Buri’ means town. Central Pranburi is of the few places that have public transportation and in general, getting around is easy by bike. Pranburi is famous for its pristine beaches with clear waters and its quaint traditional village. Its beaches are far nicer and way cleaner than the crowded beaches in Hua Hin and Cha-am, in terms of cleanliness, development, and view. The beach at Pranburi is one of the prettiest in the area also due to its rock formations and tiny islands right off the coast, so if you are a beach lover, then Pranburi is a wise choice; you can combine the experience of a traditional settlement to witness the Phuket culture and one of the cleanest beaches of the island in a more quiet setting in respect to the more cosmopolitan ones. In the resorts in the surrounding area, you will find local restaurants and bars. Pranburi is a kid-friendly destination as well. A major attraction nearby, is the Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, one of Thailand's beautiful beach national parks.
