Ang Thong is one of the central provinces of Thailand. Its name is translated as 'gold basin', probably due to the basin-like geography of the area, and the golden color of the rice grown in the region. Nearby you will find the provinces of Sing Buri, Lopburi, Ayutthaya, and Suphanburi. Ang Thong is famous for its handicrafts which include firebrick, molded court dolls, firebrick, and wickerwork. Ang Thong is also very rich in temples and it counts more than 200 of them in the region. Ang Thong is located in a low river plain, created by the Chao Phraya and the Noi Rivers. The area consists mainly of agricultural land. The two rivers, of the area along with its numerous canals, provide enough water for the irrigation of the rice plantations. Ang Thong is an ideal place to come in contact with nature and admire the mystique culture of Thailand at its best. Ang Thong will be a rewarding choice!
