REVIEW SCORE

The Sugar House Bequia is a luxuriously built property set within the walls of a very rare ancient circular sugar mill that dates back to the 18th century. It has been designed by Mustique based architect Thomas Dehen and offers spectacular views overlooking the estate’s grounds and ocean beneath.

This unique property features two large and comfortable bedrooms, which combine the many historic elements together with contemporary living. Featured is a large custom-built mahogany kitchen, all with modern-day appliances, that opens up to a large circular high arched open-concept living and dining area. Within this area is a large hardwood dining table, a daybed, and an outside garden.

The bedrooms are each furnished with custom-made king-sized four-poster beds, one which has a sitting area, small office tables, and spacious en-suite bathrooms featuring one-of-a-kind pebbled showers. One of the showers is open-air and large enough for two guests to enjoy together.

The Sugar House is ideal for guests seeking a relaxed laid-back atmosphere in plantation house surroundings, offering various indoor and outdoor gardens, a private terrace, and an amazing view. It is surrounded by lush grounds that are covered by numerous species of palms and fruit trees, with a 28 acre estate that leads one all the way down to a cliff above the ocean, making it ideal also for nature lovers who enjoy hikes and beautiful scenery.

About the Location

St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Bequia

Bequia is famed for its idyllic beaches, most of them abandoned and many vanish in bays excellent for swimming, snorkeling and kayaking. The middle of the island is hilly with dense, green woods and the beaches are set against a stunning background. Admiralty Bay, the island's natural harbor, is a favored anchoring location for yachtsmen from all over the world, where visitors can admire the charming waterfront lined with pubs, restaurants, craft shops and art galleries. Bequia isolates itself sufficient to keep largely unchanged but animated to inspire and amuse, and blends the old with the modern, which many deem ideal.

Bequia has a wealth of fauna, but nothing toxic or dangerous making it easier to relax. There are many birds on this island, such as cowbirds,  boobie birds, frigates and owls. You can see an iguana, turtle or manicure scurring through the brush, if you're fortunate. Under Bequia's bright warm waters lie intact coral reefs making the perfect place for divers & snorkellers , including over 30 diving sites offshore. 225 fish species, including Hawksbill & Green Turtles, Lobster, Eagle Rays, Moray Eels, Horses & Frog Fish are also available.

St Vincent & the Grenadines is a glorious-looking archipelago, which features white sands, volcanic landscapes, Lush mountain peaks, secluded coves, and spectacular coral reefs. Suitable for hikers, sailors, and those who just want to experience Caribbean sunshine for a week or two.

St Vincent itself is the largest island and has a beautifully unique capital city, to show for it. The botanical garden's colonial architecture and a fish market are among the attractions. The latter hints at the dishes that establish the archipelago’s food scene.

On St Vincent, there’s some fantastic walking to be had, most notably the trail that leads up to La Soufrière volcano.
