As if floating in an otherworldly atmosphere, Sky Lodge rests atop one of the highest mountains on the reserve. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors in the reception areas perfectly frame the magnificent surroundings. Comprising seven beautifully appointed suites and two separate apartments, it makes an ideal sole-use villa for extended families or groups of friends. Each suite is spacious, light-filled and furnished with all the modern amenities one would expect. Two of the suites also have their own private pools overlooking resplendent views that replenish the soul.

The décor and interiors feature earthy tones of brown and beige, which give the sense of a connection to the surrounding nature, as do the textures of wood, wool and similar natural fibres. Blazing fireplaces in each reception room keep guests cosy from the sometimes-nippy temperatures of the great outdoors, while the infinity pool is a sublime place to cool off when the mercury rises. Step out onto the sweeping decks and indulge in the magical silence of the night air and a glorious display of stars above.

Connect with nature with the Magic Hills Private Collection safari team, on unforgettable game drives and bush dining experiences, or embark on an adventure on foot with a guided walking safari into untouched African wilderness

No single day at Magic Hills is the same: from the ever-changing colours of the landscape to the unexpected wildlife encounters and the daily variation in culinary options. Added to this is the variety of activities on offer to fully immerse guests in the Magic Hills experience. While your time at the reserve may be relaxed and unhurried, those who like to explore and discover are catered for too.

About the Location

South Africa, Jansenville

Situated in the plains of the Camdeboo just north of the Klein Winterhoek mountains lie the small Karoo towns of Jansenville and Klipplaat. Together with the hamlet of Waterford, these combine to form the Ikwezi Municipal Area. Jansenville lies in the heart of the Noorsveld with its distinctive spiky plants while Klipplaat lies in an area of typical Karoo vegetation. Angora goats thrive in these conditions and Jansenville has for long been the heart of South Africa's mohair production. In the heyday of railways in South Africa, Klipplaat was an important railway junction being the point at which the main Cape Town to Port Elizabeth line branched off towards Graaff-Reinet. Sadly those days have passed and Klipplaat has become a quiet little place with the station in a derelict state.

The Jansenville area offers visitors a typical Karoo experience - clear skies with the brightest stars at night, clean air, wide-open spaces, a rich history, comfortable guest houses, succulent Karoo cuisine, prehistoric fossils, guest farm activities, hunting opportunities for local and foreign hunters. Jansenville also offers several small-town events worth attending.

South Africa, the southernmost country on the African continent, is characteristic for its varied landscape, breathtaking natural beauty, and cultural diversity, which make it one of the most interesting countries in the world and a favorite destination for travelers since the legal ending of apartheid in 1994. South Africa has three cities that serve as capitals: Pretoria, Cape Town and Bloemfontein. Johannesburg is the largest urban area in the country and a center of commerce. Lagos and Cairo are also among its most visited countries.
