The resort is a scenic 45-minute drive from the island’s international airport and just minutes away from St. Lucia’s main attractions, including The Pitons, Sulphur Springs – the “Caribbean’s only drive-in volcano” – and the best diving sites on the island, all within a prestigious UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This is a 160-year-old colonial house that was slated for demolition in the city of Castries. This two-story villa was purchased from the original owner, dismantled, and trucked to Fond Doux, it was then rebuilt and restored by artisans who specialize in the old building techniques.
This Building typifies Caribbean architecture in a beautiful, airy, and bright way accented with allusions to the French colonial style including attractive jalousie shutters and exotic touches of white gingerbread on the outside verandas. On the top floor, there is a spacious master bedroom and bathroom, on the bottom floor a dining room, bedroom, bathroom, living room, a divan bed in the living room, and an outside kitchen. Prince Charles visited this cottage as part of his official tour of Fond Doux Estate.
If one city must be St Lucia's heart and soul, then this is Soufrière. Its highlights include a variety of buildings from the colonial period scattered between luminous wooden storerooms and a vibrant seashore.
The nearby countryside is extrodinary: the sky-craping rock towers called the Pitons stand in the city like guards. These are the classic landmarks of St Lucia, sloped from the sea, surrounded with greenery and finished at a peak that looks different.
The region provides charm above and under the water as well as ample historical and natural sights. Many visitors spend only a day in Soufrière, and they cant enjoy everything this place has to offer. Please spend some nights here and absorb the environment feeling along with rainforest humming.
