The Azores Islands lie in the mid-Atlantic and are a fascinating island archipelago belonging to Portugal and a short flight for Americans As well as a two hours flight to Lisbon. Steaming hot pools are of extensive use also employed for the preparation of the iconic dish of the Azores, a stew called Cozida, cooked by placing the pot inside the earth near the famous caldeiras of Furnas. Terceira includes the World Heritage town of Angra do Heroísmo.
