Simply outstanding. A true paradise.
No matter what I say about Santorini, it won't go anywhere near describing this absolute gem, but I'll give it a try. We booked for five days, but I wish it had been five weeks, months or years. Firstly, the hosts, Heidi and Wynand, are just perfect for their roles. They are so attentive and informative about Santorini and the area. They really look after you and make you feel so special. Santorini is the best managed place we have ever been. Everything has been thought of.
There were four of us and we stayed in the Villa Da Praia. We were gobsmacked when we saw the place. It is truly fabulous. Very spacious, luxurious and comfortable. The view from the villa is so very beautiful and totally unspoiled. Watching the fishermen bringing in their nets each morning was lovely.
We were looked after for meals in the villa by a true gentleman Fernando. His little touches like different place settings, napkin folding and little messages written into the butter were so lovely and we looked forward to what he would do next! The food is outstanding and so well thought out. Our chef was just amazing. Great quality wines too.
We were celebrating our Pearl wedding anniversary and Heidi organised a special candlelit dinner in the courtyard for us. It was so romantic and very much appreciated. Another time, she organised lunch for us in the vegetable garden which was also great.
We all went on the day boat trip which we upgraded so we could go to Bazaruto Island and then go to see the whales. Unfortunately after the snorkelling reef (which was amazingly great), it got a bit rough and my husband doesn't have sea legs, got seasick, so we just turned around and went for lunch to the most beautiful island with fantastic sand dunes. We didn't see the whales, but did see two dugongs really close up!! A magical day. Don't miss it.
My husband and my friend had full spa massage treatments and both said it was the best massage they had ever had. My 15 min hand massage was also lovely.
It's the little touches like chocolates on the bed, little notes left in your room about the culture, the smiles and waves from the staff, and we loved the little bottle of sand they give you to take home so you remember how it felt to walk on the beach, all make your stay so wonderful.
This place really is paradise in a beautiful unspoiled area in Mozambique and we really can't wait to return. The staff and Heidi came to say goodbye to us all and I did something I have never done anywhere else - I cried. I was so emotional leaving. If you possibly can, do yourself a favour, and visit this place. I promise you won't ever regret it and you will have exquisite memories forever.
