About the Location

Japan, Nagano, Hakuba

Just a couple of hours from downtown Tokyo, in the Northern Japanese Alps, Hakuba is an incomparable experience like no other. The valley has more sunlight than its neighbours, a bunch of mountains with big scenery, tasty restaurants, great bars, massive snowfalls, and the steepest trails of the country's 600 alpine resorts. Hakuba is the ideal destination for foreign visitors, combining western and traditional Japanese culture. Hakuba has a wonderful village feel with plenty of pubs, bars and cafés. Hakuba has a range of accommodation options for all incomes, from hostels to luxury chalets. Much of the accommodation is within walking distance of the ski lifts.

Hakuba has over 960 hectares of skiing land through 10 resorts which features over 200 courses, 135 lifts and 9 terrain parks. There are plenty of trails for beginners, intermediates and novice skiers or skiers. Hakuba also has access to some crazy backcountry skiing and amazing tree skiing in resorts like Cortina, but this is not appropriate in all resorts with some off-piste skiing bans. The Hakuba Valley bursts with greens and pinks in the spring, becoming a popular destination for nature lovers to escape the bustle of urban life. Visit Hakuba and enjoy a variety of nature experiences including camping, mountain biking, river rafting, paragliding and much more.

Nagano is full of natural scenery and renowned for its ski resorts and hot springs. Nagano became a famous travel destination after the 1998 Winter Olympics. The Jigokudani Monkey Park, where tourists can see monkeys taking baths in hot springs, is an especially popular tourist spot. Another popular sightseeing attraction is the Castle of Matsumoto or the Castle of Crow, so-called for the black color of its walls and roof. Ueda Castle, a remarkable landmark, gained national recognition as the backdrop for the NHK historical drama "Sanadamaru" in 2016.

Nagano really shines through its activities such as ski and winter sports resorts, local food, and most of all an extraordinary scenery. Nagano is the best place to enjoy Japan's great outdoors all year round, including winter sports. It is easily accessible from Tokyo and Osaka. An adventure none must miss available all the year for all the ages for every type of guest. Truly a place for everything

Japan gives out the sense of being timeless, a place where ancient traditions and culture are fused with modern life. It is an island country lying off the east coast of Asia. It consists of a great string of islands in the North Pacific Ocean. Almost the entire land area is covered by the country’s four main islands; Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu with Honshu being the largest of the four. The Japanese landscape is rocky, with more than four-fifths of the land surface consisting of mountains. There are many active and dormant volcanoes. Since 1950, Japan has emerged as one of the world’s most economically and technologically advanced societies. Heavy emphasis is placed on education, and Japan is one of the world’s most literate countries.
