REVIEW SCORE

Villa La Sorgente Umbria is a luxury villa rental with 5 bedrooms and a private pool. Villa La Sorgente is a veritable fortress carved into the rock and overlooking the green sea of the Umbrian hills, a few kilometers from the naturalistic park that houses the Springs of Clitunno where, in Roman times, Giove Clitunno was worshiped.

The Romans were convinced that the depths of these waters hid this God. They began to frequent what is still today a true naturalistic and botanical Paradise also for its beauty. Not by chance since ancient times these places are considered by all as regenerating. Near here they're also the Tempietto La Sorgente, a monument considered a World Heritage Site by Unesco. It’s a small church, dedicated to San Salvatore, in the shape of a Corinthian temple. In the past, it was thought to be a Roman shrine, later rededicated as a church, but the presence of a cross in the center of the tympanum seems to prove that it was instead a Christian building from the beginning.

A very livable dwelling, with its 500m’, five bedrooms, a separate living room, the large dining area with a fully equipped kitchen but also a large patio, is outside that Villa La Sorgente offers a particularly picturesque setting perched on a rocky spur overlooking the valley below.

From every window of the property, and from the outdoor garden, you can enjoy an enchanting view that takes your breath away like a sunset. Unique moments, the latter, to be enjoyed perhaps in complete relaxation in the beautiful outdoor infinity pool, or sitting in the picnic area. The property also includes a barbecue area and other services for groups and families.

Period furnishings, ceilings with huge exposed beams, precious carpets and ceramics, make this residence a luxurious place to spend the holidays. Children are welcome at Villa La Sorgente.

About the Location

Italy, Umbria, Perugia

Perugia is a beautiful medieval city in Umbria, rich in history and art, and its surroundings include evident elements of the Etruscan and the Roman civilizations. The modern part of town is dominated by the presence of its prestigious university which creates a pleasant buzz. There are interesting attractions and a vibrant day scene as well as nightlife with great restaurants and nightspots that make it a very lively place. The historical center displays labyrinth alleys, beautiful arched stairways, and piazzas framed by magnificent palazzi. Its location is offered for daily excursions to places such as Assisi, Spello, and Gubbio. Perugia is just a couple of hours drive north of Rome.

Important sights in the city include the Etrurian Well that is not only a historical site, but is today still the main water source in the city. Besides the well, there are many Etrurian tombs. The 'artistic' center of Perugia revolves around Piazza IV Novembre, where still stands part of the walls that once belonged to the Etruscan city and were accessed using the ancient gates such as the Porta della Mandorla, Porta Marzia and Porta Trasimeno. Other sights of religious importance are the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, Basilica of San Domenico and San Pietro church.

Umbria is a famous region of Central Italy crossed by the beautiful River Tiber. Well known for its old cathedral churches and beautiful villages. It is a less traveled region in Central Italy with many advantages over Tuscany. It is the smallest region in Italy and it doesn’t have a coastline or border with another country. It is an ideal country for those who want to experience Italian art, history, culture and cuisine.

The birthplace of the Roman Empire and Renaissance, Italy, showcases many of the world’s greatest artworks, architectural buildings and over the top gastronomical proposals. This is the country where the word “style” expresses the whole nation. Italy has more Unesco World Heritage cultural sites than any other country; among them are Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Primavera, Michelangelo’s David and Sistine Chapel and da Vinci’s The Last Supper.
