The Medieval village Panicaglia houses a unique castle from 1266. This wonderful spot, located at a height of 800 meters offers an amazing view of the Umbrian mountains and has everything you need for a lovely stay. It’s a place that breathes ambiance, where you can relax and enjoy yourselves, but also have the opportunity to really experience Italian family life. Have a look in the kitchen or help out in the vegetable garden if you feel like it or simply relax in one of our many lounge spots.

It’s an incredible place to stay: a beautiful estate that we have fitted with a warm and attractive interior. There is also a lovely garden, with beautiful wide views and many lounge spots. Everything that makes us happy when we go on holiday, we have provided for our guests.

Both adults and children feel at home in Borgo Castello Panicaglia. While you enjoy a heavenly glass of Italian wine, we’ll make sure that the children have the time of their lives. In addition to the pool and the playground, the estate also organizes children’s activities throughout the week during school holidays. Outside the school holidays, Borgo Castello Panicaglia is not only the perfect spot for weddings, yoga weeks, and cycling and walking holidays, but also for a romantic and culinary getaway for two.

Rolling plains, rugged mountains, picturesque villages, beautiful cultural cities, clear streams, and fertile grounds: Umbria has it all. Umbria is like the Italy of days past. Here, you can take a magnificent journey through the true, authentic Italy: filled with cultural, artistic, and gastronomical highlights. But you can also simply enjoy the peace and quiet or venture out on one of the family activities. In this amazing landscape, only a mere 25km from the world-famous city of Assisi, lies the small village of Panicaglia. Do you want to experience the best of what this region has to offer? Then book a stay in Borgo Castello Panicaglia.

The garden surrounding the Borgo has countless beautiful flowers, plants, and olive trees. We also have an amazing swimming pool. Here you can relax and enjoy the view on one of the (lounge)beds. Small children are not able to enter the pool without the help of an adult, which makes it safe for our youngest visitors and more relaxing for the parents.

About the Location

Italy, Umbria, Perugia

Perugia is a beautiful medieval city in Umbria, rich in history and art, and its surroundings include evident elements of the Etruscan and the Roman civilizations. The modern part of town is dominated by the presence of its prestigious university which creates a pleasant buzz. There are interesting attractions and a vibrant day scene as well as nightlife with great restaurants and nightspots that make it a very lively place. The historical center displays labyrinth alleys, beautiful arched stairways, and piazzas framed by magnificent palazzi. Its location is offered for daily excursions to places such as Assisi, Spello, and Gubbio. Perugia is just a couple of hours drive north of Rome.

Important sights in the city include the Etrurian Well that is not only a historical site, but is today still the main water source in the city. Besides the well, there are many Etrurian tombs. The 'artistic' center of Perugia revolves around Piazza IV Novembre, where still stands part of the walls that once belonged to the Etruscan city and were accessed using the ancient gates such as the Porta della Mandorla, Porta Marzia and Porta Trasimeno. Other sights of religious importance are the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, Basilica of San Domenico and San Pietro church.

Umbria is a famous region of Central Italy crossed by the beautiful River Tiber. Well known for its old cathedral churches and beautiful villages. It is a less traveled region in Central Italy with many advantages over Tuscany. It is the smallest region in Italy and it doesn’t have a coastline or border with another country. It is an ideal country for those who want to experience Italian art, history, culture and cuisine.

The birthplace of the Roman Empire and Renaissance, Italy, showcases many of the world’s greatest artworks, architectural buildings and over the top gastronomical proposals. This is the country where the word “style” expresses the whole nation. Italy has more Unesco World Heritage cultural sites than any other country; among them are Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Primavera, Michelangelo’s David and Sistine Chapel and da Vinci’s The Last Supper.
