REVIEW SCORE

Villa Picena The Marches is a luxury villa rental with 8 bedrooms and a private pool. A few hundred meters from the archaeological area and the temple dedicated to the Goddess Cupra, still preserving small parts that probably date back to Roman times, in the countryside of Cupra Marittima and not far from the sea, Villa Picena presents the characteristics of a unique dwelling which differs from the usual classic Marche style.

Mighty and elegant, with the frames of the external openings embellished by travertine use, for spaces and dimensions this residence is a truly ideal place to spend, in absolute relaxation, an unforgettable holiday. The former hunting lodge and then, with the advent of the sharecropping, country house, this dwelling bears witness to its most recent history in the papal registers dated 1680.

Composed of four apartments, able to accommodate two to six people each and all equipped with an independent kitchen, Villa Picena can accommodate, up to a maximum of twelve people. But it is in the large outdoor kitchen, directly overlooking the garden, that the Villa lives a second life. Here, up to twenty people can be accommodated. The large stone block that characterizes this part of the building has large windows and is served by a convenient and functional wood-burning oven and, at the same time, also offers the possibility of lighting up to an outdoor barbeque. Here too we find travertine, a typical material of this area which also includes the interior floors, together with lots

of wood in what, as a final result, is a great mix between modern and ancient. Outside, very suggestive, even the fountain – amazing to see it light up at night – which is almost the futuristic re-creation of an ancient ditch to defend the sumptuous property. The large garden is the ideal place to read a book, have a drink, take a walk, or drive into real sunbaths or in the enchanting pool overlooking the sea. All around, in the large wooden walkway, you can stretch out on the comfortable deck chairs able to accommodate the many guests who will surely find the residence of their dreams at Villa Picena.

About the Location

Italy, The Marches, Ascoli Piceno

Ascoli Piceno is a picturesque town in central Italy, famous for its central square, Piazza del Popolo, an elegant Renaissance square with travertine paving and the magnificent 13th-century Palazzo dei Capitani del Popolo, a palace built over Roman ruins from the unification of three medieval buildings. Known as the “Living Room of Italy”, Piazza del Popolo is where the heart of the historic center beats and its best open-air monument.

A must-see of the city is the Civic Picture Gallery, decorated with Murano glass chandeliers, displays paintings by Titian and Carlo Crivelli. Nearby is the Cathedral of St. Emidio, with a crypt featuring elaborate mosaics.

The romantic street Rua delle Stelle (road of stars) in the historic center of Ascoli Piceno keeps traces of the medieval history of the city. Rua delle Stelle is perhaps the most evocative road in Ascoli Piceno that runs along a shore of the river Tronto. It passes through the Porta di Borgo Solesta and the medieval district of Porta Romana.

One of the peculiarities in Ascoli Piceno is the Roman Theater, a place that whispers the history of the city from the Roman era. Last but not least, Porta Romana is Ascoli’s most wonderful set of Roman and medieval ruins.

Marche is one of the twenty regions of Italy, located at its center. The region stretches for around 100 miles along the Adriatic coast. Marche is a relatively undiscovered land of Italy with respect to the better known Tuscany and other regions. Well known for its shoemaking tradition this place is a hidden gem!

The birthplace of the Roman Empire and Renaissance, Italy, showcases many of the world’s greatest artworks, architectural buildings and over the top gastronomical proposals. This is the country where the word “style” expresses the whole nation. Italy has more Unesco World Heritage cultural sites than any other country; among them are Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Primavera, Michelangelo’s David and Sistine Chapel and da Vinci’s The Last Supper.
