About the Location

Italy, Sicily, Marina di Modica

Marina di Modica is situated directly by the seaside, between Sampieri and Pozzallo, on the most southern part of Sicily. There is a large bay with a beautiful sandy beach surrounded by numerous dunes. Marina di Modica is the ideal recreational spot for families, young and older people.

The charming bay of Marina di Modica, located about 20 km from Modica and 34 km from Ragusa, along the southeastern coast of Sicily, with its golden sandy beach and its pedestrian promenade, is a small paradise for surfing and windsurfing lovers, thanks to its exposure that guarantees favorable wind conditions. The wide beach extends for about 1 km and is well served by three beach clubs offering umbrellas and deckchairs, as well as bars, restaurants, showers and water sports equipment. During high season the beach is very popular among local people and could be crowded, especially on weekends. There are two large free parking areas just a few meters from the beach.

In the seaside village of Marina di Modica, the presence of shops and nightlife makes this resort lively and vibrant during summer. During low and middle season, however, this stretch of coast becomes a charming “secluded” and “wild” seaside town, ideal for a holiday of relaxation and tranquility.

Marina di Modica is certainly one of the few spots in Sicily that has not yet been overcrowded by tourism. Here, as well as in all of the region of Ragusa, you can get to know the real Sicilian life!

Sicily is the largest of the Italian islands, separated from the Continent by the Strait of Messina and washed by the Ionian, the Tyrrhenian, and the Mediterranean Seas. It is a true gem of Southern Italy and is a place with abundant nature and rich history and traditions along with outstanding architecture. Nature here seems to have embraced all its versions: mountains, hills, and above all the most magnificent azure sea, with its crystal-clear water and the impeccable beauty of its colorful seabed. Sicily also involves three volcanos, with the most famous being Etna which adds one more color to the unique palette of this mythical island.

The birthplace of the Roman Empire and Renaissance, Italy, showcases many of the world’s greatest artworks, architectural buildings and over the top gastronomical proposals. This is the country where the word “style” expresses the whole nation. Italy has more Unesco World Heritage cultural sites than any other country; among them are Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Primavera, Michelangelo’s David and Sistine Chapel and da Vinci’s The Last Supper.
