About the Location

Italy, Piedmont, Lake Orta

Enveloped by lush, dark-green trees, peaceful Lake Orta (aka Lake Cusio) is a great getaway for elopers. It stretches 13.4km long by 2.5km wide and is isolated by Monte Mottarone from its larger and better-known eastern neighbor, Lake Maggiore. The captivating medieval village of Orta San Giulio also referred to simply as Orta, is the focal point of the lake.

Secluded but not hidden, it divides Monte Mottarone from Lake Maggiore and sets off from the tourists and hype, providing a more relaxed atmosphere. The lake is small, but in spectacular landscapes, it is draped. In the sun, the magical island of San Giulio glitters and twinkles in the evening with decorations, adding to its allure.

The Sacro Monte, a group of devotional chapels situated in hills overlooking the bay, is one of the largest attractions at Lake Orta. A phenomenon in the northern lakes of the 1700s and 1800s, there are a variety of devotional parks that make up the UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are several other nature parks across the lake, too. Thrill fans can love Alpyland, set in the mountains between Lake Orta and Lake Maggiore, which offers you a bobsleigh experience in winter and an alpine roller coaster ride in summer.

Although Lake Orta offers majestic villas and lush gardens surrounded by mountains, it is less glamorous and less crowded than the other lakes in the area, making it a perfect spot for travelers who want a more 'authentic' experience.

Northwest of Italy located Piedmont which borders Switzerland and France. The name Piedmont means foot of the mountain and is staying true to its name. It is surrounded on three sides by the Alps, with the highest peaks and largest glaciers in Italy.

Lake Maggiore with very famous resorts situated in Piedmont. One of the resorts is Arona with its 17th-Century colossal statue of Saint Carlo and Stresa and the Borromean Islands with a variety of accommodation facilities, beautiful villas, and gardens.

Rich in natural resources and ecosystems, Piedmont provides tourists the ability to play sport, rest, and be amused, combining recreation and culture.

Against the unusual unique environment of the Alps, internationally recognized locations such as Sestriere, Val di Susa, and others offer a broad variety of slope categories suitable for all forms of athletic activity.

Mountains and valleys provide trekking routes at varying degrees of difficulty throughout the season, including several paths along the Via Alpina with trails and well-equipped mountain shelters, from Monviso to the Verbania mountains.

The birthplace of the Roman Empire and Renaissance, Italy, showcases many of the world’s greatest artworks, architectural buildings and over the top gastronomical proposals. This is the country where the word “style” expresses the whole nation. Italy has more Unesco World Heritage cultural sites than any other country; among them are Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Primavera, Michelangelo’s David and Sistine Chapel and da Vinci’s The Last Supper.
