From the main square of the charming Italian town, a blue wooden door opens up to the courtyard of this palace. All of the interiors underwent a thorough renovation combining clean lines and décor, preserving its architectural features and period furniture: marble floors, stone walls and arches, and vaulted ceilings of brick or painted frescoes. The restoration was directed by French designer Grange, who also designed some of the furnishings.

The villa features today an international, refined style, unique, together with a famous cinema room, a heated pool, historic vaulted living rooms, and elegant large bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms: the home design has been approached with research in the historical context results in a new-classic style, recalling the traditional southern typology, a contemporary influence, however, has transformed this house in a modern yet very comfortable, chic retreat full of light and a welcoming vibe, blending tradition and modern Italian Architecture.

About the Location

Italy, Basilicata, Matera Province

Matera is one of Basilicata's two provinces. It borders the Apulia Region to the north, the Province of Potenza to the west, and Calabria to the south, overlooking the Ionian Sea to the east. Geographically, it is divided into two sections: a plains region (Metapontino) and a hilly area (Matera), where the temperature is cooler than on the plains and sometimes snows during the winter.

For birdwatching and photography enthusiasts, the nature reserves of Bosco Pantano and Policoro, are certified paradises. Numerous bird species can be found here, including the western marsh-harrier, cormorant, waterhen, white heron, gray heron, and coleopteran. The Natural Park of Gallipoli Cognato-Small Lucanian Dolomites is said to be one of the best places in the world for birdwatching, and it is common to see a number of unusual animals here. Matera is an ideal option for a seaside holiday, with 18.6 miles of coast on the Ionian Sea and plentiful fields of the maquis that line large stretches of sand. Policoro, Metaponto, and Pisticci are the three most important seaside resorts.

Basilicata is located in southern Italy, between Calabria and Apulia. Basilicata is a timeless country, enjoyed by explorers, musicians, poets, and filmmakers who have visited it. It is a historically and culturally diverse region with a rich cultural and architectural history, including archaeological sites, medieval castles, abbeys, and villages. This land's beauty is amplified by contemporary works of art, festivals, and a well-established food and wine heritage. A natural and fertile landscape that ranges from the Tyrrhenian coast of Maratea, called the Mediterranean's pearl, to the Ionian coast, the birthplace of Greek civilization, all the way up to the Apennine mountains. The “secret garden” of Southern Italy, an “authentic, pure, preserved” land to be discovered.

One does not come upon this area by chance but rather decides to explore it in search of a fresh experience, plunging into areas where solitude, colors, scents, and tastes transport the traveler away from the frenzy and tension of modern life and provide unique sensations. The woods and forests that cover the mountains are scattered with small and quaint villages, some even at an altitude of 1000 meters, where fresh air, genuine tastes, and natural elegance are mixed with historical artifacts that fulfill any interest.

The birthplace of the Roman Empire and Renaissance, Italy, showcases many of the world’s greatest artworks, architectural buildings and over the top gastronomical proposals. This is the country where the word “style” expresses the whole nation. Italy has more Unesco World Heritage cultural sites than any other country; among them are Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Primavera, Michelangelo’s David and Sistine Chapel and da Vinci’s The Last Supper.
