Nusa Dua is conveniently located 40km south of Denpasar, the provincial capital of Bali. Access is easy from the Kuta area (20-30 minutes) and Jimbaran (15 minutes) on the main southern route called Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai. The place-name Nusa Dua can refer to two things: either it can refer to the entire eastern side of the Bukit Peninsula at the southern tip of Bali, or to the tourist enclave at the southeast side of this peninsula. The beaches of Nusa Dua are gorgeous - white sand, deep, long and safe for swimming. The public beach at Geger is the best to head to if you are not staying at Nusa Dua. This is also home to one of the best museums in Bali.

We decided to stay at shanti residence based on the photos and past reviews. We must say while we were on our way to the villas the path looked like we were going to a remote corner but then the doors to the villa opened and the images were jaw dropping
Firstly prompt pick up organized by the hotel, great butlers who genuinely cared for you when we walked to have breakfast or when we would come back from a day trip. There was innocence and genuine concern for us which was amazing, the villas itself are massive the place is very well maintained.
Our butler even made sure we had some food before our early morning trek for which we left the vila at 1:30 am The team at shanti organized a surprise birthday cake for my wife which was a kind gesture by them.
Yes it might be far from the hustle and bustle of kuta or Seminyak but if you are looking for a peaceful place then look no further than shanti
Our holiday started in Legian - everything that could go wrong did: 10 hour flight delay, I dislocated my shoulder surfing and spent a few days sick (just to name a few), and generally weren’t enjoying Legian all that much. We came to the shanti residence hoping for our holiday to turn around. We weren’t disappointed.
STAFF: The shanti staff are beautiful people and are the reason our stay was so good. They were extremely friendly and attentive. They made sure we had everything we needed and would go above and beyond - if something wasn’t on the bfast menu, or we needed something by a certain time, they’re attitude was always “if you want it, we will make it happen”. They also provided advice on things to do or companies to utilise for certain activities, always had our best interest at heart.
LOCATION: the location of the shanti can be seen as both a positive or a negative. It’s away from the hustle and bustle of other large resorts, which if you want a quiet relaxing time spent mostly at the shanti then it’s great. However, if you need to go anywhere else, you need to go by car (usually provided by shanti staff, usually FOC) and it can take some time, which means if you want to leave the shanti regularly it could get annoying. Unfortunately, there is no close access to the beach (currently being built).
FOOD: everything we ate was great! Breakfast included fresh juice and dishes such as eggs benedict. As previously mentioned, if something wasn’t on the menu and was within reason, the staff would supply (we had freshly squeezed mango juice and granola that wasn’t listed on the menu). We had dinner 4 times there and weren’t disappointed. Afternoon tea canapés were also delicious. Only thing to mention, if your a bigger bloke, the portions are a little small so make sure you order an entree.
FACILITIES/DECOR: the pool is nice and well maintained with a view of the ocean, nice trees and plants surrounding. Cinema room is a great inclusion for if you want a night in. Gym isn’t great, but it’s what you would expect from a small place.
ROOMS: we had the most basic room, which would be an above average room at most other resorts. Nice set up with massive bathroom and walk in wardrobe. For some reason there’s no fridge or mini bar. Tea and coffee are provided but no milk to have with it. Anything we had that we wanted cold, the staff would kindly store it, but that’s not ideal. Was a little disappointed on arrival both bath robes were extremely dirty and sheets had some small stains, quickly changed over for us however.
I think we were a little lucky in that for most of our stay the shanti wasnt very busy so everything was just perfect for us. If, for your holiday, you just want a really relaxing, high quality stay - then I highly recommend the shanti residence. Probably Not ideal for people looking to do a heap of activities and wanting To come and go from the resort
