Canggu Beach is a coastal village of Bali located between Seminyak and Tanah Lot. People have migrated there to escape the congestion of Kuta and Seminyak. The wonderful cooking skills of Made (and his team Mohamed, Dia, Dami), Arta's perfect organization of our travels and events, Putu’s thoughtfulness and smile, and the exemplary professionalism of the whole team are exceptional.
The villa is more refined than the most beautiful palaces and maintained with admirable care.
We were a large group (9 adults +6 kids) and finding something that ticked all our boxes wasn't easy. Villa Zelie was the closest we could find and we certainly weren't disappointed.
The villa itself was peaceful, attractive and comfortable. It easily swallowed our large group and provided the relaxing experience we were after. The service from the team onsite was incredibly attentive without being intrusive - with special kudos to our butler, who never left our glasses empty. The meals we were cooked were all large and delicious.
Location-wise we were very happy. It was a 100m to the beach and, from there, a short walk in either direction gets you to happening beach clubs and bars, such as Potato Head and Finns. However, they're just far enough away not to trouble you with loud music.
The one major downside was the mosquito population. I think that perhaps the villa could have done more to keep their numbers down. We all got bitten... A LOT. And yeah, if you're after modern luxury this isn't the choice for you, this is a local Balinese style villa with a rustic feel.
Pretty much everybody in our group plans to come back to Villa Zelie again in the future.
