About the Location

Indonesia, Bali, Canggu

Canggu Beach is a coastal village of Bali located between Seminyak and Tanah Lot. People have migrated there to escape the congestion of Kuta and Seminyak. Its coastline comprises diverse black-sand beaches that are popular with surfers from around the world. Canggu is split into three major areas; Batu Bolong, Berawa, and Pererenan. The countryside of Canggu Beach features verdant rice fields and is a residential area of choice among many Bali expatriates where also plenty of beautiful villas have been established. As Bali’s expatriate neighborhood and surfing area, Canggu has among the island’s latest surf camps, bar and restaurant openings, and shops catering to an international clientele. Browse through our Canggu section to find out more.  Popular areas of Canggu include the beaches of Berawa that borders just north of Seminyak’s Batubelig beach, Batu Bolong, Batu Mejan also known as the ‘Echo Beach’, Pererenan, Seseh and Mengening located south of Tanah Lot.

Apart from surfing which is the most diffused activity around Canguu, you could visit the La Laguna Gypsy Market where you will find clothing, accessories, food, herbs & spices, fresh ground coffee and much more. If you are into culture do not miss Pura Tanah Lot Temple which is a famous religious site located on top of a rock formation where Balinese people worship the Bali Sea Gods.

You can also visit the main sights of Bali which are not far from this coastal area. Tanah Lot is the island's most iconic temple positioned on top of a huge rock, rooted in the sea. Uluwatu is among Bali's most important sea temples where from visitors can admire the most picturesque sunsets. Besakih Temples are the largest of all the Balinese temples with eighteen separate sanctuaries.

Bali is the most popular holiday destination in the Indonesian archipelago. Exotic temples and palaces embraced by lash nature, are some of its top attractions. After sunset, famous nightspots invite its many visitors to unforgettable nights. You will be amazed by the verdant nature and jungles. Bali also boasts world-class beaches and luxury resorts in hot spots such as Kuta, Seminyak, and Jimbaran where most of the accommodation is right on the beach. They also host some of Bali’s greatest surf spots. The eastern beach resorts are more tranquil and present the most beautiful sunsets. These include Sanur, Nusa Dua and the coast of Candidasa. In east Bali and northern region, you’ll find some world-class diving spots with calm bays. They're home to pristine corals and colorful marine life.

Indonesia is composed of many islands that display cultural and landscape diversity, located off the coast of mainland Southeast Asia in the Indian and Pacific oceans. With nearly 13,500 islands under its jurisdiction, Indonesia offers an adventure for everyone, from exploring ancient temples and hiking active volcanoes to diving in exotic, pristine waters. This country’s history and natural beauty will leave no visitor uncharmed. Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world after China, India and the USA, having the largest Muslim population in the world. It includes over 100 active volcanoes.
